Man that sucks! To everyone this has happened to: is it always at low speeds? I cant imagine the carnage if you were on the highway.

Brings new meaning to the phrase: "drive it until the wheels fall off".

mine broke the fender where it lines up with the door, but it was fiberglass, and the sideskirt corner was in pieces as well.

The top of the fender was miffed a little, but no real damage due to the major stock wheel gap LOL

and btw, I dont want to imagine what all these situations could have been at highway speeds :(

Best way to find out is to jack up the car and see if you can move your tire in and out of the fender as in hit the top part or lower part if you notice it moving quite a bit, then you should change it or get it checked out.

Thats how I found out mine was mess up.

Very easy to replace. Order new ones from mentor mitsubishi. They have good prices. Now just imagine if this was happening any faster people. Stay safe. I just sold a 2g ROFL

Don't the upper have to be purchased with new upper control arms? I've heard that.

No, thats the way that they come but you should just be able to get four lowers, I don't remember where I saw it but it was somewhere on this forum there was a trick to getting them in really easily, put the ball joints in the freezer for a couple hours and heat up the control arm with a torch and they will go in relatively easily.

My 95 GST = same thing Right Front! And yes I heard the creaking noise for a good weekROFL

No pics of mine, but it looked exactly the same.

Sad thing is I took my car to a Mitsu dealer in Waterloo, Iowa. They hoisted my car and looked underneath for about 2 min. Then they say, "Your balljoints are good to go!!" I told them about the creaking noise. Didn't matter. In the end, Mitsu paid my $1300 bill to replace it!

So just for the lower ball joint I'd need new lateral arms and new lower control arms? Christ.

shit man i was looking at the pics saying "ah shit i hope its not boostedinsofla" but it is...

damn rick...glad youre ok. i guess the car is ok too even tho it looks really bad.

you got me all scared now. maybe because i have a 99 it wont do that....ah shit *knocks on wood*

So just for the lower ball joint I'd need new lateral arms and new lower control arms? Christ.

Both of the lower control arms (lateral and compression) have their own ball joint. The one that failed in this case was the lateral arm.
