I searched, but found nothing that had to do with my specific problem.

The bolt that connects my lower control arm to the sub-frame appears to be welded on. I thought maybe it was just some tough as shed build up from who knows what but I threw a 4 foot breaker on the thing and, needless to say I think its welded. WTF

Am I just going at the wrong bolt or what?
 
It shouldn't be welded. Most likely the bolt rusted itself inside the sleeve of the subframe or bushing. Heat and penitrating oil is going to be your best friend. Be prepared that the bolt may break. Whats the reason you're removing this? Damage, bushings?
 
Ball joint squeels like a pig. I work at Advance so I can get the whole control arm w/ball joint at a decent price. I thought it would be easier that way:confused:

Is it easy to pop the ball joints on DSM's? This will honestly be my first.
 
Hmm, I replaced the ball joint on my first gen no problem. (except I tried to take the lower control arm off and it wouldn't come)

It was a typical removal and installation, just one snap ring. I took that out, and used a hammer to pound it out.

I have never had to do it with any of the 2g's yet, so maybe they're different?

Just searched...you can't replace just the ball joint, he was right :) You need to buy the ball joint with the lower control arm.
