Hey all, at idle I will have low oil pressure. I can see on the stock cluster gauge that the needle goes below the operating line (1st line up from the bottom) by about 1/4 of an inch. Then when I accelerate the pressure moves into the normal range. Is this indicative of an oil leak? also, would the turbo oil return line leakage (drips) be causing a drop in oil pressure? Thanks!

Just did an oil change on it early last week and its still at the norm markings. I dont see any leakage at all from around the block, as ive checked to see if maybe a gasket is going bad (which would suck because the motor was just installed in march!:( )

Stock gauges only show presence of oil pressure not actual PSI. If you take the oil cap off during idle and see oil swirling around in the top of the head, you've got good pressure.

Does the pressure read when oil is cold then falls when hot? Your crank bearings are tired and can't keep the pressure up in the galleys. Time for a bottom end rebuild.

What causes that is *usually* the sending unit. My GF's Talon has the same problem. Rockauto has the sender for $40 and some cheaper ones for around $15. If you don't want to spend the $100 for a gauge just yet, throw a new sender in and see if the gauge still does that.

Im looking into getting a new oil pressure gauge and coupling it with a new sender, also getting water temp and the AEM UEGO 6 in 1 wideband kit. Should solve quite a few issue :)

Not trying to be cheap, basically just want to know what i'm getting and what I need before I buy anything :)

Whatever you do, don't buy a UEGO. If you ever plan to run DSMLink it will give you a massive headache. Go for the Innovate widebands. LC1 or MTXL, either one is better.

Even if you go that route with aftermarket gauge, still keep an eye on the pressure - from cold oil to hot oil. There shouldn't be too much variance in pressure between the two temp conditions.

If the connecting rod bearings are definitely tired and letting oil pressure slide by them, it could start doing some damage since you do have metal to metal contact there for a short time until some pressure is built up.
