So I still have the stock oil sender unit, and an after market one. After warmed up, at idle, my after market oil pressure gauge blinks and reads low oil pressure, however I do not have a low oil pressure light on the car. Is this ok, or. . .

It's done it since I got it. It reads the oil pressure fine, just when at idle, it gets low, but yet my low oil pressure light dosent come on.

Oh, well then if that's true, that makes me feel better. I just hoped nothing was wrong, but it did this ever since I the gauge, but never really worried because my low oil pressure light wasent on, but just wanted to clarify.

I also noticed low oil pressure at idle. I only have stock parts though. same with my buddies gsx.

Same here. Just rebuilt 4g63 and running about 5-10psi at idle with 5w30 mobile 1 synthetic. So im guessing its pretty common. I just dont want to get crankwalk because im already running about 15psi on mine.

^Of boost that is...

If your oil pressure is low, check your oil level. Make sure it's at or slightly above the top "V" on the dipstick.

DSMs do have low oil pressure at idle, however from factory, the light should not come on. Ensure your light does work by grounding the wire, it should trip the light. Also, if your light comes on when you start the car, and shuts off after it's running, you should be good.

iv had my 99 gsx for about 3 years and it has always seemed to have low oil pressure. it runs great, even with 140k on the stock motor. id did redo the wiring to and the sender itself to be sure. i run castrol syntec 5w-50.. she seems to love it.
