I have good oil pressure, its been checked, and my guage inside the car also shows it as fine, yet my low oil pressure light comes on... could anyone have an idea on why??? I am running semi synthetic and have been for awhile, and it ran perfect no lights nothing wrong for like, since i got the car, i'll admit that at the end of next month, i have to change the oil... but right now I am running stuff in the oil like that gunk oil deposit remover and i am running engine restore formula (the blue stuff) and i am also running outlaw performance oil treatment... I am running the gunk and outlaw AFTER the light came on, and i have been using the engine restore stuff for like... ever and nothing has ever gone wrong... so what could possibly be giving me the low oil pressure light?

i am pretty positive the oil light and oil gauge use a signal from different sensors - therefore one could be disconnected or bad

someone correct me if im wrong!

You are right. I had this same problem before, and realzied it was my sensor that broke into the fitting for the oil pressure light. I always checked the oil, and it was fine. The light came on when the busted end on the harness was touching ground. So to solve this problem temporarily, I wrapped it up with electrical tape.

could you possibly show me a picture of some sort where the two different guages are? I know that one is down under the car, i believe thats for the guage... i had to re run that wire myself becuase it once got rotted out... but where is the other one for the light??? Almost forgot to add that when I first start the engine and the oil pressure is going up, no light... than when its where it hsould be... i get a light? and first and second gears (while acellerating) show no light when I hit about 3 or 4 grand on the tach and the light goes away...??? so the connection is good right? becuase I mean, the light does go off and on...

The car is over 10 years old bearings and such internal parts are worn. Running Synthetic oil through that engine will make it seem as though there is infact low oil pressure. I had the same problem. I ran synthetic and the light would come on at idle. Then i replaced with Castrol 10w-40 and the light has not come on since!

10w-40 synthetic oil? I think that could be the problem, because when I start it and the oil pressure is rising, no light... and when I accelerate threw first the first time after the light comes on, everythings good, and than the upper part of second the light goes off, and its back though the 2nd time and all times after that... but are you talking about 10w-40 synthetic?

runnin 10-30 synthetic i saw my light flicker on at idle at times - runing 15-50 synthetic i never did

weight makes a difference

I have ran 10w-30 synthetic since I bought the car a year ago, this light problem is only recent, as in like within 2 weeks maybe... So my brother says that I should replace the sending unit for the actual switch which controls the light... I am also going to check and make sure the wire running to it is good... While I am at it, I also am going to do an oil flush and change it, I am also going to flush the radiator and put in better fluid, I am hoping that this fixes the problem and prevents it from future occurance... thoughts? ideas? advice? all appreciated...

well you won't wanna here this but a broken BS belt will usually cause low oil pressure

his oil pressure is fine... according to the guage...

but yes, please replace that damn sensor... actually, mine is not even hooked up. I also have a real OP guage. I tapped that fitting for the turbo oil supply on my RWD swap...
