I just installed a moates ostrich in my 1G. I installed the ostrich at the same
time as switching to 1000 cc injectors. Before I had a keydriver chip and 650
cc injectors. The chip I had was actually for 750's with a 2g maf. I was using
a translator to tune with. I had all of my fuel trims pretty much dead on as
well as my part and wot AFR's.
Now I am starting with a whole new blank tune. I have My fuel trims zeroed out
and am starting to work on tuning my tables. I have noticed that since
switching to this setup I get knock counts pretty commonly in the very low load
cells under very slight acceleration. The worst seemed to be in the 2000 rpm to
3500 rpm in the second load cell, but sometimes in the first or third load
cells. I have been watching the cell tracing on the ostrich through tunerpro rt
and pulling timing out of the cells that I get knock. This seems to have helped
a decent amount so far. I just want to make sure that this is what I should be
doing. I had no knock in these part throttle areas with the chip and
translator.
Actually I also tried adding code to my ecu for phantom knock in turner pro and went back to default timing tables. It still gets knock at the lower throttles. Maybe a little less than before I installed the code, maybe not. Hard to say for sure. I just made a bin with my modded timing table and the phantom knock code. Going to try that and see how that goes. I just dont really feel that I should have to be pulling that much timing out of my low load cells.
