What mods would you 1Gers suggest to help my recently aquired stock 91 TSI reach the lower 13s.

Im thinking...
2.5 test pipe
Gutted Muffler
Hacked air can
K&N filter
Unorthodox Under-Drive Pulley set
Kevlar Timing belt
17psi Wastegate Actuator
Light Flywheel
ACT Clutch
TechnoMotive Stage III ECU
and gauges, good fluids, NGK plugs, freemods, relocted fogs

would this get 13s?

gauges and fluids arent goin to get you power :p

im runnin 2.5 exhaust ,mbc, intake , all the free mods , at 15 psi ... im hopeing for some 14's

Oh i meant to say 2.25 test pipe cuz im not getting the exhaust done unless i get a bigger turbo. Im just removing the restrictions

for a low 13 your gonna need most if not all the stage one mods:
Intake Pipe and Filter
Boost Controller and boost gauge
turbo-back exahust (hi-flow cat or test pipe)
I/C piping
fuel pump (to turn up boost safely)
clutch
if you have a good 14B that still pulls strong with those 5 mods you should be able to get a low 13. All the other things you listed would help you get into the 13's except for the Kevlar Timing belt thats not gonna make you faster:dsm:

the kevlars just a safety percaution cuz I dont wanna wreck the engine snappin a belt running more boost

to me it seems like full exhaust and intake arent that important if your running a 14b stock turbo at 17psi.

Have you ever wondered why people get exhaust as one of the first mods. The stock one sucks a fat one and is tiny/restrictive. :thumbdown

for real, stock exhuast blows...locate the tuning guied on this site and follow it, its a pretty good one....basically, just free up airflow in and out of the engine, turn up the boost (while giving it more fuel), and you will have a much quicker car than stock...all the expenive performance mods for dsm's all are based on the more air in, more air out thing, it just gets really expensive after a certain point to keep doing that, thats where bigger intercoolers, maf's, tuning, bigger turbos etc...all come into play, then comes the drivetrain nightmares:thumb:

-fwd's have traction problems, what can you expect from a light fwd car with a relatively huge amount of torque? (lsd, slicks, and good driving solve that)
-awd's have very good traction and the system has to give somewhere, and its not gonna be wheelspin like on fwd's...tranny, t-case, clutch, rear end etc...are all put under a ton of stress on a hard launch and tend to break alot

have fun with your car, and seriously go by the tuning guide, its the proven method of making your dsm faster

The intake doesn't make too dramatic of a difference, but it is noticeable. The conical filter probably makes more of a difference.

However, the exhaust certainly makes a difference. Turbocharges need exhaust gases to spin the compressor wheel. Bigger exhaust means spooling at lower RPMs and spooling faster.
