Loudest Sqeaking Noise When I Start My Car!!

I'm thinking it's the part in the starter that moves the starting gear onto the flywheel. Once started, this part is not moving the starter gear off of the flywheel fast enough thus getting caught on the flywheel after the engine has started.

That solenoid that moves the gear in and out is called the Bendix.

Probably, thats one of the main reasons my starters on cars died. What was really nice was on my truck it stayed engaged and spun till it got so hot the wire windings inside melted. That caused a dead short, which shut down the truck and killed the battery. Also think it did something to the altnerator cause that is disfuntional now.

I have a warranty on the car, do you think Mitsu will replace what's hammered on my car?
My advise is do not keep driving, either bring to dealer or do yourself. If neglected look at spending more cash then needed. (see above)

P.S. It can also damage your flywheel if its a stick and the autos have the ring gear on the torque convertor $$$. Best of luck.

If your cars like mine, the tensioner on your alternator slowly after about a months time lets the belt become semi loose allowing the belt to start squeeling. I swear i need to go get me some lok-tite and do it right, this crap is annoying

Exactly what mine did. The belts would squeak so I would tighten the tension on the alt. bracket then no squeak for a while. The belt would lose tension and start squeaking again. I ended up buying a new bracket a tension bolt from the dealer and so far 2-3 months running without any squeak. Parts werent very expensive like $20.00 or so.

Good luck with solving your problem, I know it can be very very anoying.

my car does the same thing. When cold it gives squeedy-squeek for a second or two upon start up.

alt has a lot of load on it right at startup
pretty common problem with our cars, mine is doing it as well, and it has a self-loosening technique, I may buy new bracketry as well if that worked
