its a little late for this reply but I just had to do it :D

i have the SUPER racing medallion, the new spec one....yea.....its like the prototype and stuff so they hadnt refined it yet. i have a ghetto rigged HRC cat on the end of a N1 downpipe. the HRC cat is basically a really expensive 3 inch cat with some catalyst taken out.

in hind sight i wish i didnt have a loud setup. i set off car alarms no matter what i do sometimes. i pulled into the anaheim mitsubishi lot to check out the evo 8 and set off a row of like 10 cars.

cops look at you and a lot...last time i got pulled over the cop said he couldnt hear his police radio over my exhaust. so basically i get to pay 180$ everytime i screw up. (yea the exhaust is carb legal but thats assuming the silencer is in)

another downside....girls ive met hate it...the really cool ones get wet by it but its safer to just buy the evo and get a cutout.

Mike, I've never heard a louder DSM than yours....PERIOD! :D

does anyone have any numbers in HP comparing the stock to the Greddy or Bosal? My first priority is performance, but I don't see why I couldn't make it quiter then stock also.

quieter than stock? the greddy is very much louder than stock.....its not too loud, but you know its there. depending on your setup, expect between 8 and 13whp gain from exhaust assuming the rest of your car is running good. in comparing other exhaust systems to each other....get what you think will sound the best. if you are comparing all 3" exhausts, you're not going to notice a HUGE difference in hp gains. some might yeild better numbers depending on the straightness of the piping/restriction of the muffler, but most big name exhausts will be similar in hp...maybe 1 or 2 difference. just my .02 tho

Brian

oh, and about stock hp comparison and whatnot....with intake, exhaust, bov and mbc i put down 197whp and 248lb-ft....so thats almost a 30whp gain over stock...but at any rate, it will help a lot, turbo's need more exhaust flow....period

That makes sense that they are all pretty close with HP, so i'll just look for the least noise. Anyone know of a good low noise setup besides bosal or greddy, or anyone agree these are the queitest?

so wats the best for performance its doesnt matter to me if its loud or silent.

I have the RNR 3inch O2 elim allt eh way back. It has a dynomax muffler with an N1 tip and its pretty loud. Its a cool loud though becasue it is super deep. I parked next to my buddies truck and I could see his rearview mirror vibrating when I walked past. I love the sound of it. I have a vid of just the DP on adn also the entire exhaust if any one wants to see it. Or if I can get is hosted for a bit then I can post it.

Get an ATR. Excellent build quality, T304 stainless, pretty cheap, and sounds DEEP. Mean and deep. The thing at 7K sounds amazing.

Matt.

I am going with a HRC 3" downpipe. In which I will be running open downpipe. According to what I have been told open downpipe is the way to go :thumb:

anyone got any sound clips like that ^^^ like someone reving really high so i can see what they sound like at WOT?

on my 85 nissan 200sx turbo im running a T28 with all custom exhaust, 3 inch downpipe, no cat, no mufflers, loud as hell, i have dynamate and a sleeping bag in the trunk to keep it a lil quiet inside, if the cops could catch me they would prolly pull me over, not to mention if i vent the 1g bov the car throws a nice foot long flame out the tail pipe, you should be able to get a nice flame form your car, venting with str8 turbo back exhaust:thumb: something else that sounds nasty is a friend of mine has a 944 turbo, he has a 3inch cutouts, one goes to a no-muffler or cat side pipe system that comes out of the passanger side rear 1/4 pannel, and the other side of the cutout goes to a full (quiet) tanable exhaust system, maybe that would be a cool route for u, or just 02 dump, thats enough to scare anyone away, i like my daily driver to be quiet, cops suck around here good luck with what ever u chose, stay away from the N1 if u want to be loud:D
