what is the loudest exhaust?

loudest?mine!!!3" from o2 to tip no nothing-but 3" pipe.not really that loud.guess turbine keeps the sounds down.

I'll tell you now that it isn't the easiest exhaust to install if you're getting the full system. If you're only installing the catback then you won't have a problem because its designed to bolt up to the stock cat. If you get their O2 eliminator DP you get a very nice DP, but their catback will not bolt up to it. You'll need to take it to someplace and have them cut the reducer off the catback and then weld a piece of pipe on so that you can then install it on the DP. They sent me a piece of pipe to allow me to do this, and then I just took it to a welder and it cost me $30.

Basically an open downpipe will be the loudest and best performing, but not the best for a street car that is driven on public roads. I did drive my FWD with a 3" 02 elim downpipe and it dumped right under the car. I drove it like this for 3 months everyday. I was just to busy to build something for my own personal car. You can hear the turbo pretty easily.

You are going to want a 3" 02 elim turbo back system for the best performance and sound. Look for a system that is a true 3" system with no restrictions or reductions. Also make sure it doesn't have resonators and that is has a straight through muffler. We offer this along with a few other companies.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

I dont know what the loudest exhaust is but the most silent is pace setter by far. I know I know pace setter why di I buy that...I had an exhaust leak and it was cheaper than stock so why not. Nice low rumble barley louder than stock and a nice low growl at wot.

I have a straight 3 in. w/ a straight through Dynomax muffler. Its loud on a frequency you can't so much hear as feel. I can pull up to any car w/ an alarm and give it a quick rev and the car will give a little hello beep. People can hear/feel my car coming from about a mile away. People at parties I go to can tell when I get there :)

ok so i am trying to now decide between these 3 in systems
-N1
-Thermal Research
-ATR

if any of you have a preference please tell me ty for all your help.
any body know where to buy the shell of a cat, or an empty one to bolt on to pass the visual inspection. or a straight pipe w/a cat shell welded on. LOL

on the back of my friends super street mag. they have like a list of 14 exhaust there. they are cat-backs for a WRX and not to specfic on what models or sizes but i has HP and DB at idle and at 3k at idle blitz is the loudest at 104
skunk2 2nd at 102
thremal and tanabe 101
apexi is 100

at 3k thermal tops beats them all 108
tanabe 107
skunk2 106
apexi at 104.

at peak HP
HKS = 202.9
apexi = 201.1
greddy at 200.9(greddy also is the quitest at 92 at 3k, they are trying to make a street legal high output exhust i guess.
blitz= 200.2
skunk2 = 199.3
Thermal = 198.3

I'm kinda disapointed at thermals HP rating, It is for a different car but still i think 4hp less than the hks seems to much.

stock was also 87 at idle 86 at 3k and 191.8 HP

The designs of exhaust vary between makes and models of vehicles as much as they do the manufacturers of the systems themselves. So the WRX performance test really doesn't mean jack for DSM's. The best way to make your decision is to check the archives........ http://www.dsmreviews.com/dsmreviews.php3?category=7000

Make your decision their.... I myself did this in order to decide.... end result, no holds bar for the Thermal turbo back with a 3" cat (didn't want boost creep with the stock turbo). After two years of moderate abuse of salt sand and a lil back roadin, I still love the thing. The quality is great, the sound is indescribable and the look is ososexy. Basically I would recommend it to anyone with a DSM.........There's an old close up pic from when I first installed it in my gallery, enjoy.

ok i also would like a loud exhaust when i get my AWD TSi...so would a good thing be N1 downpipe and thats it...but then wouldn't the fumes get cought under my car?

bushur w/ testpipe--sets off car alarms around 2-3k rpm frequently. wonderful for droning out hondas.

i give props to the Tanabe Racing Medallion. that is one f'ing loud exhaust. my buddy has it on his prelude, with floored gas going down a 2 way street, with cars parked on both sides, he set off half the car's alarms on that street. that thing gets insanely loud when he's at higher rpms, and it sounds ok at idle. not only that, but u could really feel the difference when he put the exhaust on, in contrast with his highly restrictive honda stock peashooter.
