Loud POP

Ok I recently had a problem where my waste gate came loose and would slide back and fourth inside the turbo. Got that fixed but my o2 housing gasket was blown out, so I was waiting for a new gasket I ported my exhaust housing some and the wastegate hole. Got it all together and I still have a leak at my downpipe, I took off my cat back which was 2.5" cause I wanted to see if that would make a noticable difference, cause I figured my 3" dp to the 2.5" was choking it up some.

I was setting my boost controller up, got it to 15 like I wanted it and during a test run in second stepped on it and around 5500 there was a LOUD pop like an explosion, scared the hell out of me, I let off pushed in the clutch put in 4th it seemed to be driving fine. My friend that was with me said my boost spiked up to aproximately 23 psi(boost gauge only goes to 20) I lowered my bc a little more and did another run later seemed to run fine.

I guess my question is, Is it possible for the car to backfire while at WOT? or does any one Have a clue what could of happened? I didnt see anything out of the ordinary when I poped the hood. No I still dont have a logger.... thanks in advance.

that sounds like what happened to me, but after the loud pop i gave it throttle and all that happened was a cloud of smoke and 1 psi of boost. checked it out and i finally blew the seals on the t-25 after 160k miles. but you said it still boosts fine so maybe it did just back fire. well good luck

Ya I hope thats all it was I guess theres no real way of telling what happened.
