Loud pop. Car starts and dies?

Yesterday I did a pull in 2nd gear and heard a loud pop at about 4000 rpms and 13psi of boost. My idle dropped to 400-500rpms and when I go to start it it goes up to warm runs fine then the idle falls and the car dies out immediately. I've checked out all my intercooler piping and it is fine from what I can tell. Do you guys think my intake manifold gasket blew or injector seals but the injector seals seem fine idk.

Start from the basics, do a BLT and a compression check.

I don't have a good boost leak tester but I know my piping is good and I know I have compression since this head timing and head gasket was just done 20 miles ago.

..but you heard a loud pop so what you KNOW is nothing until you check everything out.

Looking at your IC pipes and feeling them doesn't mean anything and you don't need to own an air compressor to do a BLT. If you've got $0.75 and a tester to put on your turbo then go to the gas station and do a BLT on their air compressor, thats what I did in the past when I didn't have a garage.

True that. Thanks I'll go take a look. I've had couplers blow part before this sounded exactly like it but louder that's why I thought manifold.

^what he said. u can't see every angle of those pipes, plus the pipes aren't the only thing that can leak. Example is your intake gasket, you can't really see if it blown.

My car was idling lower than usual before this happened too so I'm thinking its my intake manifold gasket.

20 miles from a hg replacement?? Have you retorqued the head at all? Next why would you immediately start beating on your car after a hg job? Do a blt, then a compression. My bet is going to be you lifted the head and blew that hg too. Your getting oil in the cylinders and why it will idle then die. That's my guess. But start with the basics.

Well we kept the at running long enough to listen to it and noticed a tiny bit of smoke coming from under the intake manifold and there was a lot of oil in the intake manifold when I put it back on so I think I blew the gasket and that oil is leaking on the block and burning.

We did a boost leak test and no leaks.

oil in the intake? Do you have a good turbo? Blown turbo's will leak like a bi*** too.
