I have a 95 gs 420a, First time it started idled for a minute and died, lost power to whole care, (even had to reset radio) 10 minutes later it started hard but ran fine for a couple weeks, next time it happened I found the ground wire was burnt and lose tightened it up car started right up and went to get replacement wire. here's were it gets weird, replaced the ground wire, car starts right up idles for 2 minutes and dies, now I have no head lights and when I do turn them on all my dash warning lights ie. open door, radiator go out, I do hear and tested the relay its good, when starting, it will rev up run any where from 2 minutes or less and died, tach will not move for 10 seconds or so then jumps up as the car kills, just replaced the ecu and doing the same thing..oh also after car sat for a week and I had unplugged the ecu it started up and ran just fine when I put fuse for amp wire in it died and hasn't started since this was before ecu replacement..

Do you have a CEL? Have you checked the cam sensor and wires? Since there was a problem with a ground wire what else near that could have been effected? also what ground wire are your referring to and why was it burnt?

The ground off the battery to the strut tower..I had thought about the cam sensor but that is not explaining the headlight issue they seem to coincide.

Out of curiosity, does the battery light come on while driving/running? I'd check the wire that bolts on at the bottom of your alternator. There has been cases of that nut becoming loose and the wire arcing across its contact, which can start all kinds of bugs. This would rule out one scenario, at least.

I'll look into that xcasbonx it did come on but I assumed it was connected to the bad ground on the battery..yesterday I got it to run as long as I feathered the gas tach not responding as it should, smoking from running rich, going back over all fuses and relays later on but really covered that once, thought voltage regulator had gone out. (reason for burnt ground) could it be in the ignition switch?? that wouldn't explain the headlight issue tho..

And no DSMkauai no cel LOL, but definitely looking into all wires to see if there is a cross and cleaning up any thing I see, like I said first time it happened there was complete lose of power to whole car as if battery had been disconnected.

Sounds like a power issue.
+1 on checking the alternator bolt, also the sensor plug on the alternator for the Regulator.

It can cause every electrical component on your car to flip out. Happened on mine, the tach ran up to 9k, everything had a mind of its own.

Otherwise, check the main grounds. Battery to chassy. Starter to battery. Intake manifold to firewall. (Not needed but the one from the Valve cover to the chassis.)
