First Id like to say hello. This is my first post. I just purchased my first DSM. It is a 91 Lazer turbo. Here is the problem. I Came across this 91 Lazer, decided to buy it. Drove 200 or so miles. When I arrived the owner said he just tried to drive to the gas station to put gas in the car when it ran out. He pushed it home, put gas in it and it still did not start. He said he thought the fuel pump burned up. I was skeptical so I negotiated the price and took the car. Got home put more gas in it just to eliminate that as a potential problem. I tried to start the car. It started ran for a second, died and made some clicking noises both inside and under the hood. I took the banjo bolt out of the top of the fuel filter, drilled and taped it for a later nitrous install but for now threaded a small fuel pressure gauge into it to verify the correct fuel pressure. So I have eliminated low fuel and no pump. Next I pulled a plug wire and plugged a loose spark plug in. I turned the car over to verify spark, it had strong spark for a second, started, ran for a second or two, spark got week, car died same as before. I had a spare crank/cam sensor so I swapped it in, no change. I had a spare coil, swapped it in, same results. I am about lost, anyone have any ideas, the car does have a turbo timer, but with the car starting running for a second then dying I dont think it is an issue? Im pretty excited to get this car running and start modding. I already have a spare motor Im going to start building up. Thanks in advance for the help. :thumb:

Did you check to make sure the intake hose didn't come off, or that the MAS wasn't disconnected?
Yes, all the obvious things were checked and checked again. Thanks :)

im having the exact same problem with my dsm. just got it last week drove it home and paked in the garage. next mornin didnt want to start. i believe its my ecu or my mas.cuz i hacked the air can and i broke the sensor so im replacin that next to see if that was the problem. let me know if you get yours runnin

When it dies does the CEL light come on for a few seconds like when you first turn the ignition on or not?
Are you sure the fuel pump continues to run until it dies or is it turning off right after you release the starter and you run out of fuel?

I have not verified that the pump stays running after I lt go of the key, I know it still has pressure? I haven't paid attention to the CEL, I will go try it and post the results. Thanks again!

Well it wouldnt start this morning so I dont know if the CEL is coming on or not. I'll try again later.

I have thought of that as a possibility, however I did not install it and have no idea what is involved in doing this. On top of that the directions I got with the turbo timer are all in Japanese.

Thanks for the help. I was at the end of my rope and decided to slap a new computer in it. That did the trick, running like a top. Its a pretty crappy top, but its running. :)
