Lost Balance Shaft Bearing, have you heard of this?

Hey guys, just wanted to know if anyone has heard of this problem. It was in a 6 bolt motor about 100K on it. If your looking at your engine from the bottom we know that the balancer shaft runs through the block and on the opposite side there is a oil slinger, not sure if that it the exact name, but the bushing that is pressed into the block came out and the motor started vibrating real bad, found the bushing the bottom of the oil pan. no good. well just wanted to know if anyone had this problem.

Exact damn thing happened to me a couple years ago when my 6bolt had 113K. Car started to knock after a hard third gear pull. Thought I trashed a rod or main bearing. Pulled the oil pan off and found my rear balance shaft bearing sitting in the pan. The rear balance shaft was just wobbling around in its bore, which ultimately ruined the oil pump.

So I replaced the oil pump, eliminated the rear shaft and left the front shaft in to block the oil passages. I've put 10K on the car ever since and its been running very strong.

Yeah, like he said. The 'bushing' is one of the bearings for the balance shaft. Might as well pull both shafts out and perform the balance shaft elimination mod.

Just one of the many reasons to remove your balance shafts! I rebuilt a motor last summer that had a spun balance shaft bearing.
