1G Loose shifter plate?

There seems to be a lot of threads on shifter topics but I couldn't find an answer to my question. When I took apart my center console to adjust my e-brake I noticed that the plate at the base of the shifter which bolts the body of the car had a lot of movement. There where new rubber bushings on the bolts but didn't seem to be thick enough to stop the plate from moving alot. What do you guys think about removing the and replacing them with metal washers?

You can just use washers and torque the bolts down. IT will hold good like that. Some people like to buy fance bushings, but washers work good.

Ok thanks. Will it damage anything in the transmission if the base is tight?
