I'm looking to purchasing a DSM.....if I could get some replies on what you think if I should purchase it or not?? It's going for $1,900 and it needs some major bodywork, 4 rust spots, and 1 of them as gone through the body, other than that the engine is in supreme shape!!!

I would buy it, from what you said it is in pretty good condition engine wise and rust spots don't slow are car down as long as you don't care about its looks. But about the rust spots: Are they big? Are they rusting through the car? If so that could mean that the car has been sitting for a lil while b/c they weren't cleaned off. And how much will the body work cost you? Don't buy the car unless you have no problem with having to put money in it. If the body needs work b/c it wasn't takin care of there is a cahnce the engine may need work too. Just b/c it looks good doesn't always mean it runs good. I would Offer him/her 1,200, you can always go up. :thumb:

That's too much, I've told the story a bunch, but I paid $200 for my 90 TSI AWD. It has one rust through hole behind the driver door, and I had to replace the hood and pass. door. It runs pretty good. Now, only needing the hole fixed and paint, I have $500 in the car. I wouldn't go over $1000 unless you really want it, good luck :thumb:

I wouldn't buy it if I were you, to me that car looks like it was beaten to death and obviously someone didn't even bother to apply wax every once and a while to PREVENT rusting.

If one cant wax his car every once and awhile, chances are he didn't take care of the motor either. I wouldn't purchase it...looks like it has quite the oxidation. If I bought that I'd use it for parts only.

I have to agree with paranoid here. Thats a $200 car if Ive ever seen one. Look at the top, hood, rims, and interior. Obviously that car has been somebody's daily driven beater for a while. 5 bucks says both headlights wont pop-up. One might. But probably not. Unless youre a glutton for punishment, Id avoid that one like the plague, and keep shopping. Im freaking desperate for a Talon, and Id still let that one go if I was in your shoes.

:dsm: + :talon: = :D

Id stay away, i just picked up a 120k mile 92 TSi AWD 5 speed w/a perfect body and no rust for 1,500. Granted it blows a little blue and needs a timing belt but id shy away from that car. Look at the 1st pic, the windows seem foggy..there must be water in the car which will help with the rust process. id say keep looking. Here's mine w/my freshly painted wheels.Later
