Just sold my Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec v today and looking to purchase my first dsm. I am looking at a couple talon's in my area and one in chicago which is about 3 hours away.

ANY input is greatly appreciated and if I am breaking any rules by posting this thread or craigslist ad's please remove this thread and I appologize in advance :p.

This is the first one I am most interested mainly due to the mileage. (## Ready To RACE## Eagle Talon)

This is the other one that is located in chicago
(95 TALON TSI TURBO 102XXX m/t)

Both of them seem to have quite a bit of mods on them so I wanna make sure what I am buying is going to blow within a week :p

Go over those cars with a fine toothed comb (and a magnet). And if you don't know enough about mechanics, bring someone who does.
Cars with heavy mod work are often a gamble. Chances are they've been driven hard and several of the parts are getting really close to that expiration date.

Be cautious and take your time. It took me over a year to find the turbo DSM that fit me.

Even though I own 2gs, I would look into that 1g more.
Look for any leaks, check dates on receipts and service dates (if any available), run a car fax, look under the radiator cap (for coolant color/stopleak), look at the oil, and drive the car to get a feel of how it runs and how it drives.
But definitely take your time in deciding and ask questions.

Careful with the 1g. Not because it's a 1g, but because the guy sounds kinda retarded about his car.

1- Anyone who puts ready to race in the title means he has beat the living hell out of that car.
2-Unless he did a 6 bolt swap, he's bs-ing about the motor since its a 93.
3-He seems clueless as to what turbo he has since he mentioned both the 14b and the 16g...

Sooo you havent bought one yet? Good show ol' chap. Keep it that way

Last time I checked, you had no DSMs Josh. (TROLLED BIOTCH!!! :thumb:)

Rgholmes08, look into both the cars, the one with less mods is better. These cars are often abused, if you don't know much about them I recommend you read up before you purchase one. If you do decide to buy one, you will have to do a lot of maintenance on it, its just not a car you can beat the shit out of and then sell off when it breaks. Make sure its what you want to do and that you know what you're getting yourself into. At the end of the day you'll spend more money maintaining the car than what you can get out of it if you break something and decide to sell it, so if you're not ready to spend money, I recommend not buying a DSM.

Thanks for all the replies guys! Ya i decided to pass on both of them and I have been trying to look for something stock or close to it. The only problem being I need a car by the end of this week :p

Ooooooo....ouch. Kind of stuck yourself in a rut LOL If you have the funds, pick up a reliable 4-banger daily driver that's under a grand for the time being. Honda, Cavalier, Protege, etc.

Unless you've got a high luck factor, rushing into a DSM can put you in the don't-have-a-working-vehicle category pretty quick.

+1 ^ :thumb: LOL

You should understand the fact that the closer to stock the better for many reasons. You can easily take any path the modifying your DSM. also you dont know what is wrong with a modded DSM because nine out of ten times the guy is selling it cause he modded it put money into it and its broke or about to break. the 1g is also a little expensive for what it has. I just bought a slightly modded 95 AWD five speed for a thousand due to certian problems and i also know what to look for when buying a DSM. you should find someone with knowledge of mechanics, preferably with DSM experience. my two cents
