    Hey All,

I am looking at getting a new ECU because my ECU isn't reading all the sensors. It just came back from the shop and I have been running it for some time hoping it would kick back on but it hasn't. I think the ECU is shot. It's missing 5 reading, Cat back / O2 / EVAP / Cold start / and one more I forgot.

I was looking at buying one from Flagship One, and wanted to know if any one has tried them before. I've tired calling them and talked to two people in their chat but no one has been able to give me an answer if they have the right ECU for my car. https://tinyurl.com/yxsdnfn2

It's funny if you go thru their "Shop by Vehicle" the only one they have for the 97 Mitsubishi Eclipse 2.0 model, is for the Spyder. and that's what I need. I just need a person to let me know if it's the right one.

I was also looking ECM tuning to get it fixed. Not sure what is the better option,

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks!

Hmm.. Doesn't look good for them in the BBB.

If you go back to the Flagship One web site and go through the process of picking make , model , year, engine size and when you get to select trim .. click on it and it highlights select trim ...click on it and then find my computer and it will show you a different ECU. I believe in ordering you need to give them your Vin number and it`s programed to that Vin ...

I'd suggest you contact ECMTuning about getting yours repaired. It sounds like there is a chance you've blown the sensor ground. My experience with most of these large "rebuilders" has been poor but I've never heard of this one.

To build on this a little bit, if your sensor ground trace in the ECU is burnt up, you will read negative values for ECT, and other sensors. Something like -40 if memory serves.

Are you getting weird negative values?

I'm looking for a ECU for a 97 GST Spyder. I'm not sure if I can just swap out the ECU's with a different VIN in California. I'm told it would take longer to get it Smog because of it. Thanks for all the feed back guys. I think I'm going to try to send it in to get it fixed, but ECM Tuning isn't getting back to me after emailing them. Anyone have a contact there that I can email to try to get help?

I wish I knew what you are talking about. I didn't really do any testing other than checking it with the SMOG tester. that didn't give me much of anything.

Im not sure how to explain it in more simple terms. If your sensors are reading negative values (using a scan tool) then its a safe bet your ECU needs repaired (or replaced in severe cases).

If you know somebody with a scanner that reads live data as the engine is running, they should be able to confirm whether or not your sensors are reading negative...

Additionally, if you post a picture of the inside of the ECU, we might be able to see a burnt trace or other issue. Can you remove the cover and snap a pic for us?

    Good luck!

There isn't anything VIN specific about the ECU, it's the ECU part number that is important.
    Is your ECU a MD335287?

I was told the ECU has your VIN number programmed into it. That's why some places ask for your VIN if you're going to swap out with an aftermarket one. Plus, My mechanic worked as a smog tech for a few years and advised me to find a place that would add my VIN number if I was going to do a swap. Otherwise, any place I took my car to get Smoged would have a problem with the new ECU. #California problems, SMH. I found a place that is open and the turn around time is only a few days, it's in Texas. I'm going to send it and it should be done by next week. I'll keep you guys posted.

Again, Thanks for the feedback guys, I'll have pictures and videos posted of the build.

Did you even confirm that the ECU needs repair? LOL

You ignore everything people are saying to try to help you.... What does "missing 5 reading" mean?

Are you talking about readiness monitors? Are the sensors not actually reading correctly? Sounds like you have a bad mechanic bro. Good luck with that...

And whoever told you that about your ECU doesn't know anything about them. They want/need your VIN to make sure they send you the right ECU version for your year and model. Since many cars get changes during their production year the VIN is the only way to check.

The site you picked I do have experience with and I hope they have gotten much better.
