Ok to start I have a 3g Eclipse gs 03 model 5 speed has 255000 miles runs like a top tho a local guy has a 98 gst spider looks great but he said motor had burnt up vaves because he ran 23 psi on stock turbo I then told him that you cant do that on stock injectors has fmic and odds and ends he wants to trade me I want to get into the dsm crowd again I used to have a 1g awd I have about 1500 to put into the car and also this car only has 130000 miles whats your suggestion guys thanks

If your eclipse is you DD i wouldn't do it. I would offer him MAYBE 800$ bucks becuse if you take into account how hard he pushed the spyder i would be weary of other parts being messed up also. Count on that, I wouldn't trade.

I would pass, sounds like the guy beat the piss out that poor thing. Ask yourself do you really want to risk picking up someone's beat car and wasting extra money fixing it. He already gave you the info you need and why you don't want his car .

Yeah definitely not worth a trade. Like mentioned above, if he was dumb enough to burn the valves up running that much boost on a stock-ish set-up, chances are he was dumb enough to ruin other parts as well.

The only reason I was thinking is because the body is in perfect shape and I was just Going to mildly build the engine w/ evo 8 rods n pistons,rebuilt cylinder head and eclipse isnt my DD I figured a down time of about 3 weeks when all said and done he said he will throw some money my way...I just got that boost itch again

I don't want to slam your dream, BUT unless you have the bigger replacement parts i.e a good spare tranny, already rebuilt head and all the other stuff that is needed to build a car that beat up. I would say it would be more like 3 months, becuase in ANY build or rebuild there are going to bugs and bumps in the build that will throw your plans off. I wish you the best of luck but this type of a rebuild will need a really good combing thru to make sure you can just get it up and running. I would buy it AND keep your DD. GOOD LUCK either way man.

Ya I feel ya bro my eclipse is down right now and my gvr4 has no plates so I've been stuck driving my jeep . Just take your time and pick a less beat dsm, you will save yourself money and headaches in the long run.

Yeah right! T25 can go over 14 psi without dying instantly!

To satisfy the peanut gallery. Anything over stock boost levels on the T25 DRASTICALLY reduces life expectancy.

Who would even try to run 23 psi on a t25 its pointless. The guy probably saw spikes to 23 and thinks that's running 23psi boost . Before my 16g I ran my t25 at 18psi with supporting mods, didnt last to long before I noticed turbo smoking. Granted that turbo probably had around 200k on it but still never had problems till I uped the boost from stock.
