ABS delete is done for a number of reasons.
The abs system in our cars is overall a great idea. Pulsing the brakes multiple times within one braking motion prevents wheel lock up. Our cars are getting rather old, and most of these modulars no longer work or are leaking. Others will delete it due to the weight. It is a considerable amount of weight to remove from a car (especially if the module is no longer working). There are extra brake lines need with the ABS system, these lines can create a cluttered look in the engine bay, also the module itself sits in the way of many intercooler piping options and looks out of place.
Now as far as deleting the ABS system you will need multiple items. STM has a kit with all the components you need to do this swap. brake lines, fittings, and NON-ABS portioning valve. STM ABS DELETE KIT | 90-94 DSM
I also have a diagram form another thread that might help: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/407993-brakes-suck-weird-line-setup.html
If you don't want to run braided lines, I am sure you can find old NON-ABS hardlines from the classified ads or from one of our "partout" vendors.
Some of our 1gs did not come with ABS. I know my car (91 AWD) had the option of a rear LSD or ABS. The newer talons 92-99 came with both ABS and LSD. I am not sure what the 90s came with.
Like I said, I dont have ABS, I have said this mutiple times on a number of brake threads, its really fine to not have ABS, but in the winter I have had my tires lock up, this is only due to my tire option at the time. If I had the correct tires I would not have skidded at all with a non-abs system. And even so, how about we go back to some old school, pumping the brakes.
