i'm probably bringing my civic, not the talon :(
i just had to help the girlfriend buy a car and i've got to put quite a bit of work into her nissan instead of my talon. :(

i has a sad

Hell, if my Eclipse won't make it there I'm going to tow it :) Might need the trailer for another DSM too :)
yeah, the though crossed my mind, but I just payed about $110 for gas to tow my girlfriend's new nissan yesterday. It is about a 2 hour trip to des moines for me. im not about to waste that much gas money just for the sake of my pride or my ego. My talon will be there some day soon, i will just have to fix it up right and take my time.

I know how you guys feel, my car is on the fritz as well. I'm pretty sure my alternator is going out and where I'm at they don't let you work on cars for more than a day, if it goes up on stands, they tow it. So if anyone wants to help me get my car to my garage so I can work on the damn thing and get it running right before this meet, that would be great.

going...maybe. I have summer classes here at UNI. Have a bunch of dsmers in the area, over 900whp evo as well. I'll see if i can get some to come as well, tho a few would have to come on trailers...just not streetable anymore. So if I come I know 2-3 guys that would come as well. Hopefully my clutch continues to hold till then!

Alright guys, my brother and I are going to taking out my alternator this Saturday in hopes we can get my car ready for the meet. Our only problem is that we don't have a jack or stands. If anyone has any we could borrow for a day or 2 that would be great. If you want to stop out and help also that would be nice being this is going to be a great PITA. Any fellow DSM brothers want to help?

If you head over to walmart, they usually have a kit with a cheap jack and 2 jackstands for just over $20. That would probably be a good investment for the future. If you can't find a similar kit a walmart, auto store usually have similar kits with similar prices.

This kit is on advance autos website for $19.99

Ditto... I'm still using the jack and stands 2 years later.

Though @red97tib, I'm not sure while it'll be a PITA to replace the alternator on the 420a. I've never done it on an N/T but mine wasn't exceptionally difficult to do. Here's the shop manual. Looks very straight forward like there isn't too much in the way.

Ok, let me rephrase that, my biggest problem is I'm jobless. I only have like $100 bucks, although I got a job interview tomorrow, that first check won't be here in time to have the car fixed for the meet.

Yeah, the alternator is against the firewall and at the bottom of the engine on the passenger side. If you want to call and discuss things, the number is 515-822-5123, name is Anthony.

Hope you guys are ready for this. Should be a good turn out, although mekal and I won't have cars worth bragging about at this meet it'll be great to get to know everyone.

your car is down again?

man that sucks

Tell me about it. You are more than welcome to stop out again, except this time we will be at my apartments in my garage. It's kinda cramped but it's all I have to work with unless anyone has a really close location I can put my car in for a day or 2.

Hey,

If the right guy is working the night of the meet, once every attendant has parked, I'll be able to get access to the roof of the Marriott and take a picture of all of the DSMs.

That would be pretty sweet, if you pull that off and it's a good picture I want a copy.

Doing anything on a second gen like alt or timing belt is harder. There isnt as much room compared to 1g. Looks like im a good to go.

I hear that. So if it does rain are we just going to plan on the saturday after?

I'd say, if it rains, we just meet one floor down on the garage... We'd have to forget about Gray's Lake and photos, but other than that, everything could go as planned.

yea i know like right now grays is flooded pretty bad and they have special hours right now like 8 a.m. to 6p.m. is all its open till it goes down or something like that.
