I have a 1995 Mirage that I swapped a 1995 Talon engine and wiring into. From the Talon I am using:

Engine and accessories
EVAP canister
All of the wiring harnesses and fuse boxes forward of the B-pillar
Fuel Pump
Exhaust
Instrument Cluster

From the Mirage I am using

Manual F5M22 transmission
Rear harness adapted to the fuse box using the Talon harness connectors
Blower Fan
HVAC controls
Dash switches

The car runs great and just has a few wiring issues that I've been researching. I'd appreciate any input on a path to fix the problems.

1. The turn signals do not work. I am using the Talon turn signal stalk that is identical to the Mirage part. The hazard lights do work, they flash normal using the Mirage switch. Just the left right with the stalk isn't working.

2. The interior blower fan does not work. I adapted the wires for the fan control switch but the Mirage blower is missing two of the connectors that were on the Talon blower assembly. The A/C is removed including the EVAP box but the A/C controller is installed and plugged in.

3. The radiator fan does not turn on. I hard wired the fan for a recent race but obviously can't run it like that all the time. I currently do not have the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) installed because the '95 Mirage uses a cable driven speedo. I am going to buy a 2G M/T VSS and install it. I know the fan logic has a VSS input, could the missing VSS cause the fans to not work at all?

4. In order to get the car to start I had to bypass the start circuit with a start button. I hate start buttons in cars that don't need them. My Talon was an A/T so the ECU is looking for the shifter to be in P or N. My understanding is that one of the ECU pins on an M/T is grounded, on the A/T there is a pin that needs to be grounded in the engine compartment. When I ground this pin in the engine compartment with the key ON the starter runs continuously. Can I just ground the pin at the ECU to have normal starting with a key?

5. Now that the car has some down time I'd like to clean up the wiring. I would like to remove:

a. ABS wiring- It's never going to work in my car. Can I just strip the harness of all the ABS wiring without causing other problems?

b. Airbag wiring- The Mirage didn't use impact sensors like the Talon at the front of the car. I think it just used an inertia switch inside the control box. In other words the airbags are not going to work in this car ever. Any problems with removing all of the extra wiring?

c. A/T wiring- This is a little more complicated because I need to have backup lights and obviously there's the starting issue mentioned above. The A/T also has inputs to other systems on the car. How can I effectively remove this wiring?

I appreciate the help. I haven't taken any good engine compartment shots yet but I'll post them here, it really wasn't too bad of a swap and the car is pretty quick.

The turn signals are fixed and the defrost wiring is connected. I purchased a VSS from a later model Mirage that I think will work on my transmission and send the right signal to the DSM ECU.

I still need to figure out why the blower fan doesn't work and do the wiring cleanup. There is a lot of extra wiring in the Talon harness that I don't need at all.

I've been trying to find a good diagram of the HVAC system so I can get the blower system operational. I know I'll need to make sure all of the sensors are in place for the A/C switch to control the fans. I don't really need it to bump the idle at all so it might be best to just rewire the switch to work the way I want it.

This evening I went through the wiring diagram for the blower motor and check all of the continuity. Everything checks out according to the diagram for a 95 Talon. If I jump pins 2 and 5 on the blower relay the blower works but I can't control the fan speed.

Tomorrow I will try swapping the relays around and testing the current blower relay.

Figured out the blower problem.

Basically when you flip the blower on it triggers the blower relay on the interior fuse block and the switch controls the speed through the resistor block in the evaporator. The blower switch also sends power through the A/C switch to the A/C compressor controller (ACC).

I waded through the wiring diagrams and found that I could trigger the blower by applying 12V to the relay. Then was able to control the blower by reinstalling the relay while applying 12V to the white/black wire on the blower connector. So I traced it back to the blue/black wire on the ignition switch. No voltage there either. It turns out that I used the Mirage ignition switch instead of the Talon switch on my swap. The Mirage doesn't have a terminal at that position so no power was getting to the blue/black wire. So the blower, cruise control (not installed), and rear defroster were not working at all.

Now I just need to figure out what color the wire is that's supposed to be connected to terminal 4 on the Talon blower switch. Unfortunately the wiring diagram doesn't show the wire and didn't take a good picture of the OEM connector.
