Looking at buying this 98 GS-T... Need opinions plz

Hey guys well i've been looking into buying a gst for a while now and i found this one about 2 hours from me, heres some info on it. 98 gst- 126,000 miles - 5spd - leather and all of those goodies, LOL. not used to leather coming from an old hybrid honda, LOL. well as you can see the outside looks great, interior looks good also, after taking it for a spin it run good, pulls hard to redline, no hesitation. idles good around 800-900 rpms, now to the bad part, the dealer told me it needs a new head gasket and that it why it is blowing a little bit and i mean a little bit of white smoke. and that is why he is asking 4995, but he said since lots of peeps keep coming and looking at it and then turning away b/c of that, that he said in the next week or so if its not gone he is just going to fix it and mark the price up to 7,000. plz give some opinions guys on what you think, thanks

Seems like a pretty decent price, if the body and interior is good and it is running fine with no other problems than that i say go for it. I changed a head gasket on my laser with no previous experience of doing something like that, so you could probably do it to. Heck even try and talk to guy down a couple hundred bucks to cover the cost of the parts you are going to need.
 
Thanks for the reply's guys, I've changed a head gasket on my honda before so thats no problem, im just worried it may be more than the head gasket, but i mean the car ran like a champ so i dont know. And for the lsd... yea that is a have to have, LOL. I had a 93 honda civic hatch with a acura integra ls engine and a jdm gsr tranny and i had a itr lsd put in, and gawd i could never go to owning a fwd without an lsd, LOL. any opinions on the white smoke but it still running great and not overheating in the 15 minutes or so i drove it and i got on it pretty hard a couple times. thanks
 
i think its a great deal if you are looking for a project car, who gives a poop if the 7 bolt is totally messed up.. buy it and build up a 6 bolt for it.. the car looks clean as hell, it is ripe for a 6 bolt swap
 
also im surprised no one else mentioned it but pop the intake off of the turbo and check for shaft play.. white smoke under accelleration is a sign of a crapping out turbo too.. and if that was all that was wrong with it it would be the deal of the century :) ..probably not the case but worth checking out anyway, how does he know it is the headgasket that is going?
 
Yea the 6 bolt swap sounds nice but this is going to be my daily driver, b/c my wrecked hatch is going to be my new weekend playcar b/c a dipshit in a jeep decided to hit me so im rebuilding it from the ground up, my daily driver right now is a 89 chevy corsica so anything right now is moving up for me, LOL. but i plan on doing little stuff like 16g, i/e. But anyways back to the point LOL, so that is best way to check for shaft play by popping off the intake? i cant even tell if its smoking under accelleration, i mean i didnt see any when i'd hammer it, main time i noticed it is when i was leaving the lot a little bit when i stopped to pull out it rolled by the car barely and my g/f said a lil bit when i was backing it up into the parking spot and also barely when it idels, but i dont understand how it could run so good, i mean if it was something major it wouldnt run as good right? thanks guys
 
Well the cars obvoiusly been driven a lot with 120K+ thats more than my 92. So id say the t25 might be on its last breath, but still i think its a good deal even if you have to replace the headgasket, wondering if there are more problems ahead is just the chance you take when buying a dsm.
