The cars timing belt broke and reset the power module... Now the car wont start due to the failure of the power module they said the a shop would fix it for $600, but what i am looking for is what is this part. Might i be able to pick it up at my local junk yard they have quite a few dsm' in there. all help appreciated in advance.

I would walk, no RUN away from that car unless the body is perfect and you have the money for a complete rebuild. How much is he asking for it?

Sounds like a pretty shady deal... I say DIY...

Just get a good used head and new timing belt and water pump, HG, etc... Take the head to a machine shop, have them resurface it and new guides seals, etc... put car back together, profit

well its $400 fot the car, but they said the fixed the timing belt the car has 200k on it but I know i can get one for more with less miles. Still not sure if its AWD or not which is what want still trying to get in contact with him, but I have another deal lined up for the same price just no motor or trans in the car it was an orginal awd car so all id need for that one is a trans 6bolt 4g63 and a ecu for the car....btw this will be a project car i have an 09 focus coupe I DD.

your valves are bent,

They're both just shells, buy the cleaner one.
The guy may have put a new timing belt on but that won't do anything once you've smashed the valves.

wow... sounds like he is covering up some bent valves to me too. the "power module" sounds like he is saying the ecu got messed up by the timing belt LOL check your local pull a part yards for a nice head, motor and ecu and find out what car u want more. i would agree with the above and expect they both would be shells needing a motor. good luck and keep us updated on your findings.

Run away from that lunatic, you have bent valves and thats it. If you can do the work, go ahead, if not and you have the money, have a real shop do it and dont let that crazy bastard near your car again.
