Anyone feel free to jump in and correct me if I'm wrong because I'm still pretty noob-esque, but if I understand correctly the 16g is only a bolt on upgrade for Talons/Eclipses, it didn't come stock on the cars. It was off the EVO III but fits our cars perfectly(I've got the smaller one). As for the difference between the bigger and smaller 16g, as usual bigger is better if you plan on going all out in the long run. From what I understand the smaller 16g spools faster and will get you more power when your only upgrades are basic. BUT, if you plan on upgrading the full exhaust from the manifold back, fuel system, FMIC, and do some tuning, etc, then the big 16g is probably what you'd want to go with. These of course aren't you're only options for turbos, but are probably the most accessable.

As for visual differences with the turbos...that I'm not too good with besides the fact that the big 16g is of couse, physically larger.

As long as it's a turbo car, I don't think there was any major difference in the motors power-wise. People will argue either way about which is better, most agree the 1st gen motor is better(6 bolt), if anything because they seem to be less prone to crank walk. BTW, search for "Crank Walk" on this forum...study it, KNOW it. Knowing how to spot the signs of it will potentially save your a$$ when you go to look at a car. And ask when the timing belt was replaced last, if they don't know, DO IT ASAP just as preventative maintanance, it'll save you a big headache later on. One other thing, just my experience/opinion, but buy an AWD turbo car...FWD + Mods = Traction Issues

Anyway, I hope this helped a bit. Good luck with the purchase and best of luck with the car when you finally get it! The most important advice I'll give you is HOLD OUT for the car you really want, don't settle, and look it over carefully! If you follow that advice I'll tell you two things right now, 1. you won't regret buying a DSM, and 2. you'll be addicted for life!:thumb:

First of all they don't come stock and from this question I highly reccomend you taking a mechanic with you to insure the reliability of this car. A bigger turbo with no supporting mods only means disaster.

thanx so far, i know alot about cars, and have worked on them for a few years now, however, i dont know hardly anything about what turbos what, and still learnin on what a dsms have.
thanx again everyone, please feel free to reply

ALL 1g M/T's = 14b turbo

All 1g A/T's = 13g (smaller than 14b)

All 2g turbo cars = t25 (not as good as 14b)

13g = 360 cfm
14b = 405 cfm
s16g = 505 cfm
b16g = 550 cfm

thanx is it easy to find the 16g turbos or should i go with something else when i do an upgrade
