logger cable

i bought a extra hot sync cable to use for the pocket logger. i also bought the male connector for the factory diagnostic port. what i am looking to to do is cut the end off the hot sync cable and wire it to the male connector. what i want to know is what wires go where.
I DO NOT WANT TO BUY ONE. i think it is pointless to buy a cable to plug into a cable and to hide twenty feet of wire.

There is more to a logger cable than a couple of connectors and some wire. You'll have to decide on which sort of conversion circuit your going to use and build it.

what do you mean by a conversion circuit ?

The electrical signals used by the ECU is different than the signals used by a computers serial port. The main function of a datalogger cable to to convert from the one format to the other and back.

One example of an active (powered) Mitsubishi OBD I conversion circuit is shown on the MMCd web page. http://mmcd.meditprofi.ru/

Searching here should turn up at least one example of a passive (unpowered) circuit that works with some devices serial ports.
