I have a 93 Talon fwd 2.0L dohc I was stuck in limp mode so i went to a slavage yard and pulled a TCU from a 93 fwd with a 1.8L. Now when i first start the car it seems to not be in limp mode and will shift then it goes back into limp mode untill i restart it. It will not go into OD. I know i didnt put the right TCU in the car the only difrence in the TCU Is one car had a 2.0l and the other was a 1.8l. Any ideas on what the problem may be? Would the TPS Cause this? Bad Shift soliniod? something is causeing ot to go into limp mode. Not sure if its because its not going into OD and this causes it to happen.
Thanks
Mike

I would probably blame the TPS but I would also consider that there might be a difference in the TCU, I had a buick that wouldn't accept a different transmission because the new one didn't have traction control while mechanically the transmissions were identical.

Ok iv found a wire broken off anyone tell me what this is? is on the trans. is this the solniod for OD?

Sorry it was so bad. It looks like a sensor or something that is bolted into i think the end clutch cover?

The tcu is probably fine as both engine use the same trans. I would fix the wires then if it still falls into limp mode have the tcu scanned and find what code are stored in it. You could hav a faulty pulse generator.

Ok i re spliced the wire and now its shifting through all the gears. I still need to know what that is.(Solinod,Sensor,ect.)? It will need replaced because its cracked. But the TCU out of the 1.8l seems to be working for now. Im guessing because it couldnt shift into OD because the wire was broke off this was causeing it to go into limp mode?

is your car turbo by any chance? Why I ask is it looks like the pulse generator on the f4a33 trans which is the turbo a/t trans. It could be a speed sensor also.
