Lights stay on and wipers spray and sweep whenever..

My 2yr old son was playing in my 95 Talon Tsi Awd and now whenever the battery is hooked up the headlights stay on regardless of what the switch says. The windshield wipers also spray and sweep regardless of what the switch says.

Not really sure if anyone has had the same issue(I did search)

I am thinking he broke the light and windshield switches. :-/

sounds like some broken switchs. id probly take them apart and see whats going on. using a double a battery and a test light to confirm if the switchs are working if possible. replace switchs if needed. for now if u need to drive the car u could simply unplug the wipers and windsheild fluid pump power supply tell u get it figured out. and just leave the headlights on. good luck

Before you go digging around deep into the spider web that is the electrical system of these cars, disconnect the switch and see what happens. That should at least say "dammit, I have a severe short SOMEWHERE" or "ah, it's just this 20 year old piece of plastic. Cool!"

I took the switches out and yes that stopped them from doing what was described above. Thanks for the input and now I just need to find two new switches.

They're a dime a dozen. Check ebay, craigslist, the classifieds, etc. I doubt it'll cost you more then $15 to your door. Glad it was just the switch

Been busy sorry for super late response. The replacement of switches only fixed the wiper issue and not the light issue. :-/ still working on the wiring. My god is it a mess :-( hopefully eventually ill run into the issue but everyone's comments/suggestions are more then welcome ;-)

Issue fixed. There was a short between the lamplight wires/radio wires and one of the fuse beside the radio fuse in the engine relay/fuse box. Thanks to everyone that helped and offered some good information.
