Lifter question

So i am rebuilding the head on my 90tsi. I have new top line lifters and when i was disassembling the head i compared the oem lifters that came out of the head with the tpl lifters and noticed that the oem ones are about an eighth inch taller than the tpl lifters. Is this normal or something i should be concerned about and order a different set of lifters. Thanks for the help.

the used HLAs are pumped up into place , the new ones are compressed and not filled with oil...

BogusSVO is right. The new lifters will fill with oil once you start the engine and they will expand in height. Remember, you will hear them ticking until they fully fill with oil, which could be a few minutes after startup.

btw you may want to do this oil mod since the head is off.....
