In no way am i new to the whole motor internal scene but, as have i not cared about my past car this is my baby and my love, "My dsm" (forget the Wife LOL :thumb:) So My question is is there any special knowledge i would need to rip apart my whole engine internally and what special tools might i come across, currently im diagnosing my problem as having a whole in the head, so while the block is exposed i would love to throw some evo IX pistons in their. This is a budget build and im wondering what this might cost if i do the labor myself. If anyone could go in a step by step and answer all of my quests that would be great.

The only "special" tool I needed was was a puller to get the crank pulley off. Other than that, you just need a basic set of sockets and a rachet.

Yea for the most part just a 1/2 and 3/8 set of ratchet tools, lots of baggies for bolts with a sharpie to label them, Good torque wrench, and you should be set. not to mention that handy dandy service manual (Haynes or Chilton)

good set of metric sockets and wrenches

screwdrivers

3/8" and 1-2" torque wrenches
Haynes or Chilton manual

jack and jack stands

rtv, silicone, etc.

that's all I can think right now

Impact gun, for your flywheel.

Other than that, Me and m y buddy took apart a complete motor in 30min. All that was left were the valves and springs.

HAHA have fun and post pics of the tear down.

Good Luck!!

I read in another thread you can wedge a block of wood between the engine block and the crank use a breaker bar to get the crank bolt out.
