Led Taillights

The Knight Rider "ping pong" radar display most likely used normal filament bulbs due to the slow turn on/off nature you see in the display.

There is usually a K.I.T.T. car on display at a weekly car show I go to in Scottsdale, AZ and that is the only car that type bouncing display looks good in.

I think my LED tails have it beat by a little on the WOW factor.

Hey I was bored and paging through old threads, but there is another thread in here thats active about the same lights, I never realized it was from 05 though

besides the moderators are always saying that you don't start a new thread on a topic that has already been discused

hey dave. what bulb are those for the licence place. They look like the new lexus bulbs. Almost H.I.D. Been trying to figure out how to get that look for my car

i have a feeling those are going to be too dim. i've never seen this particular bulb (1157?) in LED form, but I've seen a similar LED bulb in sidemarkers and it's way too dim.

They should be here this week so we'll see. Ill post the results up with pics. They have 48 LEDs in each bulb, so I think it might be alright. I bought them off of eBay and went through the sellers feedback first, and other people seemed very pleased with the bulbs

The led bulbs for the tailights are very bright actually I have bulbs almost the same style in my talon in the brake and turn signals. they come on much quicker also when you get on the brakes.

Whats the account on ebay of the person you are buying these from?

Not too bring an old rusty thread up, but does anyone know if its possible to do a led retrofit Similar to azdave's , but on a 1gb ? Im sure most of you have seen it, at the earlier posts in this thread.

If you are going to do an led retrofit like azndave then you wouldn't be asking this question, you'd be doing it. It's very labor intensive and highly difficult to do.

Yeah only from 08.But I digress.

There are two options, DIY( Unfinished Tails On Car - Unfinished tails on car DSMtuners Gallery )

No I won't do it.Dave own't either I asked him.LOL

Or DIY 2 ways, you do this yourself http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/app...lighting-96-talon-tsi-awd-led-conversion.html

Or you contact ^ that guy.He may help you.

I was asking in a 1g basis because I've never seen a 1g with an led tailight retrofit, didn't know if there was a specific reason nobody does them on 1gs, like electrical issues, etc. I didn't say hey I'm starting a retro fit, I was asking if it had been done on a 1g for future reference if I wanted to take a hack at it or if I shouldn't waste my time because it won't work. I understand its labor intensive, that's obvious.

Thanks for answering the question that was asked.

Labor intensive..More than a :hellyeah:

It's really just a pain to even do what I did..Mine is also a 3rd of the cost, of the other one, even for r&d on my own car.

Mines actually still not finished..I did get the top of the actual turn signals done.On the top of my photo the turn signal..I got the top done in the 3 rows like the rest..

The bottom.I gotta do something with that..That center is still bothering me..I think the keyhole is getting deleted on my car, that would look better.

If you want an led replacement btw..http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/appearance-interior-exterior/438303-full-led-replacement.html

But thats not the actual thing were talking about here.

Thanks and thanks again.

Your quote makes it sound like my car is so fast you've been looking at my tail lights a lot. Ha!

Well... I'm prepping for the Stage III install so maybe soon.

At 30 cents per LED that's only $250 worth of LEDs in my project. OMG

That is the most awesome rear of a car i've seen.

To be honest, i don't think that price is too bad. An LED conversion for my 300ZX was going to cost over $400, and that was without the centre panel.

Okay, here's an idea.. 2012 Charger style taillights on a 1gb.. ? Would it be possible to take them out of a wrecked charger if the rear is intact ? If someone could chat this idear up with me, thanks !

There's a lot of tech in my thread to help you learn how to do it an LED conversion.
I'm not done by any means.

I'm currently starting to play with microcontrollers to handle all my LED functions but progress is slow.
