This is on my 97 GSt 5spd, when i bought it, he said the tranny was rebuilt, today I looked underth and saw it leaking, its not bad, not even dripping on the ground, but obvious something. Is that black silicone or whatever that is normal, what could it be? car only has 50k orginal.

Looks like a pretty crappy job of forming a gasket using RTV. It really isn't uncommon to see leaks like that. I would drain the fluid out of the tranny and wipe it clean. Then scrap off any of the RTV that you can. Reapply some new RTV to the seam wait a day and refill the tranny. Good luck:)

I dont think its leaking from the tranny its leaking from the green thing, whats the name of that?

That green thing would be the axle cup. If it's flinging up transmission oil from there you probably just need a new shaft seal there on the transmission.
