Last minute smog with readiness monitor question.

I've done research about this topic for a while, but just want to make sure 100% before i go out spending money that i do not have to spend. I have a 97 get, and my readiness monitors will not come on. Ive read countless times that the 97's do have problems with their ecu's. I have also read that i can either take it to satan to fix, or heard i can swap my 97 ecu for a 99 ecu. My question is..Is this true? Wouldn't it throw a CEL for the not having the second Evap sensor the 98/99 dsms have? I think having a CEL light on while trying to smog would make it fail? (i could be wrong, correct me if i am please.) Just trying to smog this month! . Please help me! Thank you.
