So i was replacing the cas and i took off the valve cover and the intake side of the lash adjusters were all off. I tried to put them back on but just wasn't sticking. Do you think this indicates bad lifters? and adjusters? I don't know how this could have happen and i did research this. Theres no threads about this issue.

Hmmm... even with the lifters fully compressed and the lobes on the cam at the farthest possible distance away, your rockers should still be a b!*% to get on. Sounds like you've got valve problems or your cam has somehow lifted from the head.

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying.

Your lash adjusters/lifters (same thing, two different names) sit in the head, so I don't know how they "fell off." Also, the rockers should be on top of them, so you'd have to remove a rocker to get the lifter out. Were you maybe saying your rockers were all off?

If so, just take and put them back on. Put one end in first (not the end that sits on top of the lifter). Then push it in and down and it should seat on the rocker. You can see in this video I made how to put the rockers back on. You don't need the tool to do this - just put in the same position as I mention and push in and down.

See this is just crazy cause i did try to press them back on. I even did a full rotation and they didnt stick.. this is so crazy... my na motor didnt do this and im sure that this one shouldnt have eather. like i put them all on. It seems like if the lifters have magneticness (i dont know what to call it im sorry) that the magneticness is all gone making them fall off.

Can you press any of your lifters at all?

While you have the valve cover off, it might be a good time to clean your lifters so you know you're starting fresh with them.

Do you see anything odd about the cam lobes (should be shiny and scratch free) or the rockers? Does the contact point on the rocker (where the cam sits) move like it should?

It might just be something as simple as you're not seating the rockers fully. I had this happen a few times, but finally got the hang of how it should sit in there and connect with the cam and lifter.

The only way I have had them not stay on is after the ballance belt failed and got under the timing belt. The engine jumped time and bent all the intake valves.

yeah there are scratchs on the cam shaft. im thinking about getting new cams and lifters.. I hope that might fix the issue. The lifters can be pressed down. But its hard to do that. Btw this is what my harmonic bal looked like i was on my way of replacing the cas

you can tell the new one from old. I still dont have the timing belt off yet.

So after reading your first post again this engine is a nomrunner. Check your intake valve spring heights agenst the exhaust side. theyshould be with in 1/16" if it is more than that you have a bunch of bent valves

if i did the brian crower cams and stainless steal 1mm oversized valves. Do you think i would need anything else? can i get oem lifters for a performance cam and still last a long time do you think? this is still related to valve train issue.

Looks like a aftermarket harmonic balancer. Don't put another aftermarket one back on unless you want to replace it again.
The only proven to work harmonic balancer is: OEM, and fluidampner.

The ones sold at: Napa, Autozone, Advanced Auto, etc. is manufactured by Dorman and in all honesty suck and then blow apart like your last one did. Search and read the horror stories if you don't believe me.

Brian, where did you get the tool that you used in the video and how much?

i bought that harmonic bal from a oem parts place. I did check it for anything that would be different or possably screw my motor up.. Checked the weight and everything. (ps im use to being screwed from ebay so i now check everything)

Good 'ole eBay. Mine was cheaper than this one, but I think I drove the price up since I made this tool known. The only other option before I found it was a $70+ option.

Search eBay for "Blue Point Mitsubishi Chrysler Valve Lifter Tool NEW".

FYI it's in snowborder's tech article where i purchased the tool for roughly the same price. I think it came to $30 shipped.

I can't recall the name of the website right now.
