Larger than normal camshaft journal diameter??

So i bought a 90 talon tsi with a "brand new" used machined head on it with only 1,000 miles. i took the cams out the other day(stock) and measured the lobe height and journal diameter. the lobe heights are all in spec but the camshaft journal diameter measures 1.073 and my haynes manual says for all year 2.0l dohc engines it should measure between 1.0217 and 1.0224. What does this mean??? how is it possibly bigger?

I would check another source, such as chiltons or a mitsu manual .

So from reading that article it sounds like my head was over bored and the camshafts were welded to make them fit properly.. many people were saying to scrap the head and cams so as not to run into problems in the future.. what kinda problems can i expect from this if i leave the head and cams the way they are?

It's no problem if you keep two and two together. It becomes a problem later on if (or when) you want to upgrade; if, by chance, you are going to sell your cams or head separately; or if your car ends up in a junkyard sometime in the future with those parts on it, someone is only after one or the other, and ends up in a big mess with oddly sized parts.
