i got me a laptop to use for some good old loggin, cept i need a cable. if i get just a obd-II can i log all the fancy dsmlink stuff without socketting my ecu or blowing a pot of gold? or can i make a serial cable with just some female ends? what pins... how would i know the wire colors in the cable? ummm and is it just straight wires or do i need a board with fancy circuits on it? thanks for helpin out this cheap bastard

Simply put, no. You need to buy dsmlink and have a socketed '95 ecu to do everything that dsmlink does......

You might want to look into one of the Palm devices if you just want to log.

There is no way possible for you to log OBDII from your car since your car is not OBDII. You can get a nice 1G logger from www.pocketlogger.com for your Palm OS PDA.

oops i meant just a diagnostic cable like the obdII to check error codes and such, it could still log like knock and stuff couldnt it? is there pc or pocket pc based ones for cheap? i have a win 95 laptop and an audiovox thera. im not going to be modding this car much or anything i just want an idea of how its running. o and did i mention cheap?
