O.k., this is the problem, I have clear tailight lenses and need red colored bulbs, the problem is regular ones look almost pink when lit. So this is not an option, the L.E.D.'s look good and red like they should but do not work with the turn signals, I know that they do not have very much draw of power like regular bulbs. and it seems that I have seen something in another thread (which I have been unable to find on this subject.) Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Key word(s) here, BULB CONDOMS, check'em out.

Oh, and Tx97GSX, nice link ... I saved that one to my bookmarks.

Thanks.

Sorry but bulb condoms don't seem to work either, well, at least not for getting it red enough anyways. Thats why I was hoping to use L.E.D.'s they seem to have the right coloring. But I agree with you it is a great link. :thumb:

When you say the LED bulbs don't work with the blinkers I assume you mean that when installed they blink at twice the normal speed which is true. Due to the reduced power load when using LEDs the blinker box, behind your head unit, "thinks" a bulb has gone out and doubles the flashing speed to alert you.

You can either increase the load back to normal values with a load resistor installed in parallel on both the left and right circuit or you can do surgery to your blinker box.

Unfortunately, Eclipses cannot use a "no-load" blinker box commonly sold at auto stores. Mitsu used a proprietary blinker that does not inter-change with the common styles.

I did surgery to my blinker box and was able to "fake" the electronics into believing that all was normal even though I have only one 1157 bulb where there once were three (one front, two rear per side).

The info in this link is experimental and if you aren't comfortable working on it at least get a spare blinker box to hack in case it doesn't work or it takes you a while to get it right.

clear tail lights hmmmm.... im working on a full tail light LED converison much like azdave's, so im selling all my LEDs from my tail lights. I used a talon wiring harness for the bulbs, making it so its two red on the inside and amber turn signal on the outside. Also known as the "german" mod, but a simplier way of doing it is using a talon harness.

Also, here is the fix for the double blinky:

you would probably have to have ugly altezzas.... the clear tail lights for eclipses are frosted on the inside, like the reflector things, so it would be all blurry if you got those, so waste of money for clear tails.

it shows pics of them lit up in some tails, but when i saw them, they looked nice, you cant see the individual parts or anything

o.k. I went to the stereo shop today to have them install the load resistors, just to make sure I wouldn't to an idiot job and have someone else to blame if it didn't work...LOL. Well anyways, we were able to get the L.E.D.'s to blink, but not when the parking lights were on. Strange, Any idea's what went wrong? I could really use some help on this one.

I had the same problem. Blinking was okay at first but would stop when the markers were turned on. The factory blinker box is sensitive to changes made in the system. I had to install three large blocking diodes in the brake (2 R & L) and marker (1) wires in order to get it back to normal. No problems now. I also modded the blinker box to prevent having to use those big load balancing resistors. It was a bit tricky to do surgery on my blinker box.
