I want to do this mod for 90-91 models with the pop-ups. Youve probably seen the cutout piece of vinyl that goes on 3rd brake lights that say like GT or DSM or whatever. Thats what i want to do for my turn signals. I want to cut to exact same pieces of masking tape to say whatever something like RS or DSM whatever. I am going to black out the rest of the lighting: the pop-up protector thing, the sidemarkers and with the masking tape in place, spray the turn signals attached to the popup protector. Spray like 3 -5 coats so that no light will come out, then with a razor cut the DSM out of the paint very carefully and peel the tape off and everything should be black except for the DSM it should be clear still. Then a few coats of a clear coat and your done. Now when your done, at night when ur signal is on it should blink DSM or whatever. Let me know if you guys like the idea and if i should do it, any suggestions will be great. thanks

also the color you paint your lights can be anything you want as long as its dark enough, i just chose black because thats the color my car is ...

The only problems you will run into is that the light coming out of it when it blinks will cause it to lose any resemblance of a word. It will just be a blinking light. But when it is just glowing it will be visible.

Better make the leter big.

good point, im gonna do some measurements to see the biggest letters i can make, but as for the paint what kind of paint you guys think?

you should probably use a Krylon FuZion paint. It has superior bonding and it will be thick enough to not let and light through. Also ifd your going for a glossy look buy Krylon Crystal Clear Acrylic spray.
3 coats of paint and 2 coats of light clear. wait about 20 minute inbetween coats or it will get very orangepealed. wait 40 minutes between pain and clear
