So up tell now all I have owned is corvetts and ss camaros so I am totally new to the tuner thing. I bought a 1991 Talon tsi awd for $1000 bucks so I could have a fun daily driver but i have not been able to get it to run. It will kill as soon as i touch the throttle. but will rev slightly when I release. so doing this i can get it to about 3k rpms but when i hit that the boost drops past 0 to about -7 lbs. It has more problems but this is the focus right now
 
You say it has other problems, it might help if we knew what they were. With the info you have given I would expect either a bad TPS or EGR not working right. Both of these could cause the dying problem.

As for the stock boost gauge dont worry about that the car is not going to build boost unless its under load. Thats why you dont hear the bov vent just by free reving the motor. Has the car been sitting for a while? Did it do this when you first got it?
 
The other problems are mostly oil leaks and hose leaks. I have ran a couple of boost tests and i found a huge blowout in my intake gasket. Pulled the intake and repaired. now i have a small leak on one of my injectors but that is it. when i bought the car it would run but it had the same boost problem(but it did not have the kill problem till after i took out the intake) i have spent about 6 hrs today trying to trace every line that i could have had any effect on but all are hooked up correctly as far as i know. When the the boost pressure drops it makes a very loud vibrating noise. how can i check the tps and the egr.
 
So it vibrates after you pass 3000? Or just when the stock gauge falls back into the -'s As far as how the gauge is acting mine does the same thing dont worry about that. Whats the history on the car? Did you empty the tank and put fresh gas in?
 
As far as the history of the car goes I know that the guy i bought it from said it was acting up and he dident want to fix it. what i have done to it is
Checked all the vacuum lines and replaced any bad ones.
perfromed boost test and fixed some leakes
Replaced intake manifold gasket

That is it as far as everything i know about it. The car starts to vibrate bad when the boost gauge drops but it did do this when i drove it from the guys house. Even under a slight load while trying to accelerate.

No I have not changed out the gas yet I will do that for sure first thing in the morning.

Got busy wasn't able to get back. Get a Chiltons manual it will tell you how to test TPS and EGR. I do not know how to post pictures or drawings otherwise I'd show you. Where is that kid! He knows how to post pictures and drawings.

there is no SES or check engin lights on. and that other link does not work on my comp. but thanks for the info i will try the things you guys suggested and let you know how it worked out tommorow.

Sorry, link fixed. And actually, it isnt ses, it is srs. That stands for supplemental restraint system, aka airbags. Your car doesnt have an srs light so no need to worry about that.
 
My car did the same thing and when i unplugged the mass airflow sensor it would rev up but still ran bad... I thought about it and figured out that the intake hose fell off of the turbo so the mass airflow sensor wasn't sensing any air going through it.. hope this helps you.
 
I would suggest un-hooking the stock MAF and see what happens. I had a similar problem with mine had to replace. Good luck keep posting your symptoms eventually someone will run across it with the same problem and shed some light
 
So you guys think that if I unplug the MAS and it still acts the same then it is bad or a problem in the wiring.
