Hey guys,

I am putting a 6 bolt in a 96 tsi awd auto car. Got the kiggly kit through IPT, and it said on the sales receipt that the flexplate that came in the kit may require slight modification. I placed the bushing that came with the kit on the convertor, and put the flexplate up to the convertor and the flexplate bolt holes are about a half a hole off. Now i could certainly slot the holes out some, but that doesn't leave a whole lot left at the end of the plate...is this the modification required? Or is something wrong with the flexplate. From the looks of it there isnt going to be enough material left on the plate for me to feel comfortable bolting this thing up and feeling confident about it.

If anyone has run into this please chime in!! Thanks for any help.

Here are some pictures of what im talking about maybe these will help..

Not 1 of the 4 converter bolt holes line up with the converter.

According to John @ IPT, this is normal and the holes in the flexplate must be slotted out to fit the bolts. Sorry to waste space guys, hopefully the next dude who runs into this will find this helpful.

Well personally, i think that needing to slot them is rediculous. Why should this modification be necessary to begin with? Is this not the right flexplate? I'm thinking it isnt. For as much as this kit cost, i dont see why any modification is needed.

I also wonder what slotting the holes out is going to do to the integrity of the flexplate. There wont be much left after slotting the holes out...makes me nervous.

Yup, gotta slot them. Be glad you found out before you put everything together. It sucks slotting them out once everythings in the car.

Thanks for the clarification Dave that makes much more sense. Although I was assuming that it was a custom flexplate not a stock 6 bolt flextplate.

Is there an aftermarket flexplate available that lines up correctly?

The AWD A/T's all had 4 wing. That is a stock plate for a 1g. I buy these from my local stealership for $30 a piece. How much did that run as a "custom" plate?

Edit: Wow I just replied to an old thread, LOL.
