2g 7 bolt kiggly flexplate questions

How does the 7 bolt Kiggly flexplate for a 2g bolt up? I have 2 of these that I'm about to install on each auto I have.

When i bolted one up to my spair engine, the bolts weren't long enough so i cut down some ARP flywheel bolts to where they had enough thread to go into the crank and me not worrying about stripping the threads out.

My question is, Is it Alright for me to have the round spacer on both sides of the flexplate that Way the shank on the flexplate bolts doesn't stop them from being able to be torqued properly?
 
Thanks!! So according to the first link I'm suppost to use my OEM crankshaft bolts to bolt the thicker flexplate up??

And if I don't have a spacer on the inside then the flexplate will touch the rear main seal housing, or at least thays what i experienced during my initial bolt up.

This isn't backwards is it?? I feel dumb asking that question. I put the flexplate on the same way the stock one came off

You can use your OEM bolts, it's one of the options, you can read about and decide on the others. Your flexplate is mounted correctly. (except for the spacer). I wish that second link worked, it shows a diagram of where you grind on the rear main housing for clearance.

I Thought it was mounted right but i knew it was hitting the rear main seal housing that's Why I put a second spacer on there, which isn't pictured. I will definitely take off the spacer in between the crank and flexplate and leave the one that's between the flexplate and trans.

Is the picture showing the 2 bottom corners that needed trimmed? Is it just the little pegs that stick out that I have to trim/ grind? Or do I need to touch up more than that??

What would you recommend doing for the bolts?? I was scared that with torquing the shorter OEM bolts down I might hurt something since they were a little short. I want it right the first time and don't want to have to take stuff back apart just for tinkering with the flexplate a second time

At first, I just shaved the corners and it spun freely on mock-up (6 bolt mind you) it was a little to tight for me, so I shaved down a fair bit more and blended the rest of the outer rail a bit. As far as the bolts... I'd probably shave the heads on some M10 x 16mm so you get full engagement with the crank threads. Loc-tite is your friend.
 
What did you use to shave it down with? I have a dremel tool that i planned on using with a couple sanding disks.

Hmm Im not sure I follow along on the shaving the head of the bolts? That part kinda confused me, What is the purpose of doing this and What does it do?

I used an electric die grinder, Dremel should be fine, I just used a basic aluminum oxide stone. You grind the bolt heads for clearance between the torque converter and the bolts.
 
Well i ended up using the OEM crankshaft bolts to bolt the flexplate to the converter but on second mock up the flexplate didnt hit on the rear main housing anymore.... So i decided to be a stubborn ass and just go ahead and install my engine and try to connect the flexplate and converter.....

The problem is that everything binds up once I get the last (4th) converter bolt about 3/4 of way in ..... Once i loosen that bolt or take it out then everything unbinds slightly, then once i get the 2nd out of the 4 bolts loose/out it will unbinds even more and so on and so forth as i remove the rest of the bolts.

What is going wrong or what am I doing wrong to Install this???

I was informed the flexplates only bolt up one Way on the 4 bolt pattern, is this correct?

I was told to remove all the bolts, spin the converter 1/4 turn and start the sequence of installing and tightening them again. If it binded like it already did before then i was told I was to take all 4 back out again and repeat the 1/4 of a turn on the converter and the rest of the process until it finally wouldn't bind and all 4 of the flexplate bolts were installed.
