Just got my new eclipse today, questions??

i just got my 97 eclipse gs today and just wanna know if ther is anything that i need to know about it, like commen problems, easy mods, stuff like that. Also if anyone could tell me the stats on it, how much it weighs, HP, etc, etc. Its a red 97 gs like i said, five speed, power everthing including moonroof, cruse, A/C, rear defront, in near perfect condition and the guy only wanted 4900 for it. So i guess thats it just tell me what you can. Thanks.

welcome to the 2g Slow dsm family of 420a engines . You will notice your car is slow and i think we all notice it in time so i turbo'd mine. Your eclipse is pushing a whooping 141hp to the Flywheel and like 131pds torque... oh wait did i mention 141 is to the flywheel and not the hp to the ground so your pushing an amazing 121hp to the ground. Kinda shitty thats why i invested in a turbo, good cars they are very reliable but there not no nascar .

dont know if they fixed it since 95 but if not, plan on your door locks breaking....and having to pay $180 PER DOOR for new ones....im a cheap ass so i just reach over and flick it with the hand other than that ive never had any problems with my GS...but like i said, its a 95.....oh i guess the driver window sometimes likes to roll up too far

i really like so far, my last car was a 98 Dodge Neon ACR and i made the mistake of putting on a body kit, I will never do that again. I love the body styling of the 97-99 the way they are. This car has less HP but it seems quicker. I dunno. Im not really planning on racing it so im not gonna invest in the turbo i bought it for looks only. So im thinkin 19 inch wheels with a drop and muffler. not sure yet.

normally its good to stay 18 and under, unless your gangster, then go 4 it. The easiest things r normally exhaust and air intake, it will boost ur HP and turn some heads if u do it right. After u do that, just drive it like theres no tomorow and enjoy it.
and if anyone in a honda wants to race you, dont be shy, its about the only car on the road u can beat. So do it, and enjoy.

If all you want to do is turn heads. Wheels are the best, then Exghust, then CAI. maybe get the windows tinted with some 20 and a CF hood.

i actually like my 1998 GS because i got it for a steal of a deal and (forgive me because all these 4g63 freaks will try to burn me because they're, uh...yea) i like my 420a better than i like my old 4g63. don't let these "wisemen" tell you any better, your engine has just as much potential as the gs-t cars (just got to spend a bit more on a turbo kit and pistons and shit). but yea, they're zippy little cars.

thanks guys. i looked over the car all day today and found only one thing that doesn't work, the reverse lights. I checked the fuse and its fine so i thought the bulbs went, I took out the light assembly from the rear bumper and unhooded the wire and tried to turn the white plastic thing counter clock wise but that only resulted in me breaking off on the the little plastic wings on it. So how do i get at the bulbs? both were like that. Anyone have anyother ideas on what it could be? Thanks.

It's the switch on the transmission trust me I replaced my bulbs and still doesn't work. I need to crawl under there and find that switch on the tranny and change it. If you get a book about your car from the local parts store it should tell you how to get to it and change it.
