Someone needs to chill out. Before you start modding why don't you fix your "gorgeous" car's fender, sideskirt, and hood, it looks like shit.

A cold air intake is what you buy for a N/A car, not a turboed car. I don't know what you're buying that it will run down into the fender or whatever, but more than likely it's a piece of junk.

Edit: Those mirrors look like ass and dear lord is that wing huge. You fly everywhere you go?

You are stupid....CAI is for ANY car. Lowering the intake temp before the turbo will still help. Just because no one sells CAI for our cars doesnt mean you cant make one. I dont know what he bought.

wth do you need a CAI for? you want to pay $70+ for a stupid tube and cone
*added to cars that make you shake your head

Did he just say he is putting a cold air intake on his GSX or did I read that wrong? If so this guy REALLY need to read up.

Sure it's for any car, but where have you ever seen someone buy a "cold air intake" for a turboed car, let alone a DSM? No one sells a cold air intake for them so whatever he bought is some POS universal tubing or a legit cold air intake for a N/T.

LOL

What Bobbdeeze was talking about with the pictures. He didn't say that it didnt happen, we here on DSMtuners just like pictures, so we know what we are looking at. If you strike a hell of a deal, people want to see. So, we wanted to see.. Thanks for posting the picture.

So you are going to do a cai huh? How the hell do you plan on putting the filter in the fender well when there is something called an INTERCOOLER in that location? Unless of course you want to waste the money on a fmic kit and then deal with the pressure drop that your going to experience running stock boost levels. But oh wait you know what the hell your doing already, I almost forgot. Seriously, use the damn search button for every item you are going to install and read up on this crap first. If you would have taken 30 minutes before you made this post, you would have found all information needed without getting flamed by everybody.

I know you are a newbie with dsm's but just for everyone's sake remember this: The search function this site has is a newbie's best friend. Just gotta take the time to actually want to learn and use the damn thing. It's there for a reason.

I agree with 98GSXtacy.

I am not a newbie to DSMs, however i am a newbie to the modding and tuning scene. The people on here are great, VERY VERY helpful. You flakin out wont help you any. I am amazed that you are still getting any feedback at all.

There are plenty of guys who are using what you would define as a cold air intake, and it makes ton of sense to do. You can can also build a cold air box if you don't want to make a custom intake tube.

I have a buschar 4in cold air intake that ill be using with my holset. Goes from turbo into passenger fender. Flame away but company's have made them. Is Buschar a bad name...

:thumb:1200$ low fluids and 50 cent sparkplugs
80 bucks to make it run

cai (got the k&n plate) 7 43.75%
boost controller 4 25.00%
injectors 1 6.25%
turbo 16g big 300$ 4 25.00%
thanks for voting

i think you should just clean the car as much as brand new.. lower it with nice suspension.. FMIC and just put a 16g with afpr and 255 fuel pump, boost controller done.. leave low boost and keep it clean

Perfect thanks

Quit replying if your if your gonna help, just move on. No one is 16 except the guy saying your must be 16, and when I said cai i meant taking the filter off and putting the K&n adapter for the filter on. Quit crying about a cai just was wondering about different opinions sorry for the big mistake geez really can we move on?
Anyways
I was buying stuff as it came
Orderd a boost gauge
boost controller should be here tomorrow
already have oil temp gauge and water and etc
will be checking all the boost leaks tomorrow
I got the big 16g with all housing lines
ngk wires are soming
took the side skirts and wing off and fixed the fender a long time ago (dont worry about it)
bought the car like that
Thanks for all the people who are sticking with the original thread and helping
please no more down talking
Makes people leave real quick with your guys posts (waste of time)

Good idea on buying all the gauges first, I'm sure you wont regret it in the long run. Big 16G was a good option as well for an upgrade, just make sure you don't run too much boost on those stock injectors/fuel pump. Basically, if you want your car to last a long time, don't go buy engine management with a bunch of bolt-ons and run your car to death. Keep a nice conservative tune, and don't go HP crazy. Don't redline every gear out of every stop sign or red light. If you take your car to the track to see what kind of times you can make, don't make 15 passes. 3 is plenty enough, your clutch will be on fire by then. Not to mention how hard launching is on your drivetrain period. Take care of your baby, I'm assuming you've picked up a repair/maintenance manual? Do all the regular maintenance that is stated in the book, even the simple things, and it'll be a long time before you have to spring for a rebuild. I'm definitely no car genius by any means, but that sounds like common sense to me. Some people seem to forget the most important thing, and it's better than any upgrade -- regular maintenance

yea thanks for the feedback im just buying everything i can before i put it on and Im like uhhhhhhh did i miss something?
but yea im runnin grey smoke a bit from the exhaust at higher rpms any ideas
no leaks found yet

Cooling the air is what the intercooler is for, a cold air intake is just wasting money.

1. Make sure all maintanance is up to date before you do anything with the car.
2. Boost leak test
3. Some type of tuner so that you can firmiliarize yourself with it before you get bigger upgrades, and you need the proper guages(WB, trans temp, oil pressure, boost).
4. full 3" exhaust from the turbo back(didnt read to see if you had one or not.)
5. Larger turbo, fuel pump, and injectors
6. front mount intercooler
7. Adjustable fuel pressure regulator
8. Upgrade brakes
9. Body kit :sneaky: just kiddng ROFL :barf:
But really.
9. IPT restalled torque converter. Or a better one if you can find one.
10. Some 272 cams.

That should net you some satisfying horse power.

AND read, read, read as much as you possibly can. Thats how i've learned everything that i know. And i continue to learn every day.

Why did you remove the side skirts? The wing I can see taking off. Seeing that you have a 99, after ALL maintenance is done, the first mod I would do is get the tactrix 2.0 cable and EVOScan for datalogging. Get used to monitoring knock, injector duty cycles.. at a given rpm. Then install a boost gauge. Then a boost controller and maybe turn up the boost a little bit and take some datalogs to see if the car has knock and see what the injectors are doing. Then I'd get an exhaust. You said the car has a 1g turbo I think. If it has a 14b, leave it on for now. Get an oil pressure gauge, a trans temp gauge, and a wideband. If the trans is getting warm, upgrade the trans cooler. Once all this is done, I'd upgrade the fuel pump. You can get a Walbro 190 and still use the factory fuel pressure regulator. Or get an EVO 9 pump which flows just a tad more than a 190. If you want a 255 pump, get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator to go with it. Once the fuel pump is taken care of, then it's time for either a front mount intercooler or injectors or both. Once injectors are put on, you'll need a tune. That should get you going. I hope this helps.

Open your hood and turn the little black knob looking thing so it turns out and makes your hood line up. And the wing why.

I took off the wing to get the stock one.
