cambridge,
Hey guys,

Well it looks like I am now the proud owner of a 91 Talon Turbo FWD.

I have always liked these cars but I guess you could say I have too many toys already, so I wasnt really in the market for a Talon right now.

As it turns out my boss has a buddy who deals with settling estates and this Talon was owned by an older gentleman that passed away four years ago. So the car has been sitting in a garage for 4 yrs.

It is in very good shape, it has 180km's on it but runs like new, and the turbo seems very strong...It has a new alternator and new frt rotors. It has been undercoated and is rust free. I got it for $1500.00 and think that is a pretty good deal.

It will need tires (as they are cracked from sitting for so long) and i think thats about it.

I want to change all the fluids and change the timing belt as i know this is an interference engine.

Does anyone have any tips on changing the timing belt? Do i really need to buy the special service tools, or can i work around that?

Does anyone know any thing else i should check before driving her daily....

What are the common issues on a 91 Turbo FWD?

Thanks for your help.

Just so you know if you ask too many questions in 1 post most people wont answer. Also be sure to search a little before you post. Anyway heres a link to do the timing belt replacement http://www.vfaq.com/mods/timingbelt-1G.html, the part #'s are in there as well. I would at least get the long bolt tool. As the link says I suggest you replace the tensioner tool as well as the pulleys and pumps. Do a compression test to be sure everything inside is ok. After that I would say drive it and anything else you need to replace should reveal itself
