I just finished my build. i love the 6 puck clutch. beside 1rst gear. i have a fidanza flywheel and a 6 puck clutch. I rev to about 1500-1700 while pulling out. The car loves to jump all over the place. I did expect it. but this is much worse then i thought. Should i be revving a little higher. Remember this clutch is brand new and has only 150 miles on it. Is it okay to rev a little higher. You guys have any tips to driving a clutch like this without looking like a fool when you are pulling out. I am still learning new tricks but i wouldnlove if you guys have any good tips. PLEASE ONLY ANSWER IF YOU HAVE A PERFORMANCE CLUTCH AND/OR HAVE DRIVEN A CAR WITH A PERFORMANCE CLUTCH. Thank you LOL

Your biggest problem is the lightweight flywheel. I've had nothing but puck clutches in my cars or years, you need to get used to the smaller window of engagement, but you may still have chatter issues with that flywheel.

i like to feather my clutch when normal DD driving...

I have a 6 puck, I still have issues with it jumping around on me. However I have found it to be smoothest at about 1500 with some feathering. I am not sure if it is the best for the life of the clutch.

what do you mean by "feather". i have found it most effective to try to get off the clutch as fast as i can. If i just keep riding the clutch it will just keep jumping and chattering. what do you guys think is a good rpm that may prevent chattering.

sorry. haha long week... i meant my throttle. :banghead:

I usually find it easiest to engage My puck clutch faster than a standard clutch. Honestly only having 150 miles on a new clutch and flywheel could make it a little more jumpy. I think once you get at least 500 miles on the setup it will be a little better.

it was a little difficult to get used to the engagement point. but once i got it, it was easy. no need to rev it up any higher than any other 5 speed... LOL just a little more touchy, and helps to feather the throttle while you get used to it.

this was something i was also considering. i hope it gets a little better.

i have put around 1500 miles on the clutch and it has gotten much better. My main problem was the rear motor mount bolt was a little loose causing excessive chatter. I just purchased prothane mounts and im hoping the will help the issue even more

If your motor mounts are torn and not simply loose, you will not solve anything with those prothane 2-piece mount inserts, you will have to replace the mount with a solid bushing or a new mount.

i have the poly all around, makes for a terrible time sitting in traffic... fair warning LOL

I have so much wheel hop that i really dont have a choice. You have a gsx so you really didnt need the poly all around

The had them already installed when i bought it. getting ready to buy the prothane bushing kit for everything else as well.

Only time will help. The more you drive it, the better you will get at releasing at the "Sweet Spot". Every car is different, and you will find it, but it takes time. It is a mix of rps, throttle control (feathering is one of them), and how fast to release the clutch. Too fast will spin the tires, too slow and it will buck, and chatter.

I've got puck clutch in my 98 gsx and it does the same thing.I don't really like it but I will say it Grabs really hard when ## ripping on it. I think some of it is me though.I've got about 2200 miles on it and I want to see how it does on the track before I make my decision Wetherby I want to keep it or not.
