too bad the editing Pinnacle file for the BLOOPERS vid was on the laptop and all 6-8hrs of editing was lost. owell, that is the main thing that needs redoing, and the picture slide show needs some tweaking... any good song ideas? need one song, about 2m30sec long.

andy, what's up for dinner tonight man? i'll be hungry and i'm sick of tearing up my garage floor already. wanna help? i'll help you panel yours then...
Maybe all the hdd's are fine. They are pretty damn sturdy anyways, and you can't really melt em unless you use good ole thermite. Try ploping it into a regular pc first?

well, after being in a blaze for 8hrs, and being soaked with millions of gallons of water... even the harddrives are pretty darned charred. I think andy was only able to salvage one of the towers, and yank the HDD, which was melted, but seemed doable... and even that one didn't work out.

owell.

it's almost ready to go for real now. i know we've said that time & time again, but this time it's actually happening. the bloopers are done again, not quite as good as last time, but that's OK too. the picture slide show is done. days 1,2,3 are done. all the Pre-RRTL footage/pics are in a folder ready to go. all that is left is a 2.5min trailer, and then format the dvd layout/menus. I even picked up some CD labels that we're going to print out.

we hope to have the trailer done tonight, and get a dvd burnt even to test the menus & such. as long as it's good, we'll be burning DVDs this week, labeling them, and mailing them out soon enough.

ps... i'm going to try to make an RRTL soundtrack as well.

Wow.... I went on the RRTL trip and didnt even catch this thread until now. OMG Good thing I got to see a couple previews of the video before the fire. Now it will be like a whole differnt video:D looking forward to going next year assuming I have a reliable car ready to go and the appropriate funds available.
My RRTL teaser video can be found on my website.

More you say?? You will my friend.. you will! and SOON too. the DVD is officially DONE!!!

yep, you heard me... DONE, FINISHED, FINITO!!!!!

just need to make a dozen copies, label them, and drop them in the mail!

Paul... I would sure hope you can make it over to pick it up! :thumb:

this_tsi_8urV8: There will be a short 2-3min trailer posted on the RRTL website, and the entire DVD is available for purchase as well. the DVD is approx 55min long. It is a compliation of highlights, events, etc from along the way. mostly set to music, and some is the actual video w/ actual audio as well.

I think it is a pretty complete video. sure... we had to edit 7+ hours of film into 1hr, but hey... the rest of the word wouldn't understand most of it anyways. so we picked out the good stuff, set it to some music, and i think everyone can enjoy it!

we'll have it available for purchase on the website starting late in the week i imagine.

Yes, all that is left is to make a bunch of copies, throw it into the RRTL jewel case and its ready to ship. Also I just want to say there is about 20+ hours of editing time into this video so we hope you enjoy it.

i think what he means to say is 20+ really means 20 + 8 hours that were lost in the fire! and that 20 is about 20 EACH!! ok, enough ranting. it was fun though. frusterating at times... but fun! and yes, we are both very happy with the final outcome of the DVD.

yes but we are going to apologize because the trailer only has about half an hour to an hour of time into it because we started to really rush ourselves. But we will most likely make a new trailer in a few months.

For those interested....

RRTL 2007 will be announced early '07. We hope to have the entire trip planned and registration open by February 2007. And as Andy mentioned, a new RRTL trailer will be up by then as well. something with a little more thought put into it.

stay tuned...

I'll definitely try to make it to next year's RRTL. Looks like it was a lot of fun. :thumb:

Just watched the video twice within these last 2 days. good stuff:thumb: but I do have a couple ideas for improvement for next year or whenever. We need to try and tell more of a story, let people know whats going on. Have someone thats not camera shy :cough: alex :cough: and/or someone that is good at public speaking say whats going on. not the whole time, but just jump in everyonce in a while. Also on the day 2 stuff where the audio was a little messed up, you could replace most of that with music and just fade in the orgional audio when you want to hear someone talk. If you havent, watch some IMV films, they usually do a good job at telling a story and keeping it intersting. (I think they have an advantage over us though since they all have nice ass supras/WRX/EVO's and alot more $$$) Not trying to give you guys a hard time or anything, just some ideas. I know you put alot of time and effort into the video and it shows.

Yeah, we totally agree. It would of been nice to have a little naration stuff in there or something. Well, we know what to do for next year. Thanks for the feedback!

Yeah, if you didn't go on the trip, you would be lost watching it. next year a narrator will HAVE to have some input.

Tyler: you need to PM me with a few answers...
1. are you and Robin going to share 1 DVD, or would you like 2?
2. a. If you answered "share", you may skip to Question 3.
b. If you answered "2" to question 1, what's her address?
3. Where should I mail it?

I'll get them in the mail yet this week i hope

Thanks
~Kurt
