hey, about 1 month and a half ago, i bought a JR Intercooler, the dimensions are 33x7x3.5 with the 2.5" rear facing outlets, extruded tube style. it took me a while to get all the piping together and the couplers, and i finally found a beast of a person who has the tools to help me, his name is flytalon93 on here.
the install total took around 10 hours. we started around 12 o'clock and i was home by 10, so around 10 hours. we had to cut a bunch out of the radiator and the bumper cover. none of the bumper was cut, and we just bolted the intercooler to the bumper. the piping we used was from jcwhitney, 2 90 degree angles bends, 1 45 degree bend, and 1 straight pipe, as well as a dejon tool j-pipe. the couplers were supplied by extreme motorsports in odenton, MD, very good stuff!
after we got the install done, we took it for a test drive. i got about 2 high rev runs in before my boost started dropping and then finally the car died. i was expecting the worse, but flytalon93 knew what it was since the same thing happened to his car. the coupling that went on the j-pipe blew off, making me spew black smoke all over the place. we put on a longer coupler and went out for another drive.
honestly, at first i was kind of disappointed. i don't know if it was a long day or what, but i didn't really feel that big of a difference, probably because it was dark outside and i couldn't see how fast i was going because my guages don't light up (that's another weekend project). after the 2nd successful test run, we called it a night after a ride in flytalon's GSX and his wife's GST.
today, i took it out for another drive. holy crap!! the car pulls like a son of a gun now! i'm still at the 15 psi boost, so i'm sure i can get another 3 or 4 psi without knocking and the gain will be even bigger, and then i'll tune it...what a beast it'll be. the car feels like it woke up from a 12 year nap. i'm also only stock 440's, so i'm sure once i get something bigger in there, that'll even help out more. full boost also comes in 300 rpm's faster.
anyways, that's my review. the intercooler is sawheeet, i recommend JR to anyone who wants to get a great quality intercooler that is inexpensive and great quality.
