Ok I was was told that the 1g JDM tranny's are better and can handle a betting like much more the a us 1g dsm. Is that true I have two.

ive also heard this several times but never seen the two torn down next to each other to see which is beefier if either are.... ive also been told the jdm has dual sycros like the 2gs but not for sure on that as well....

I read somewhere 1g jdm trannys wouldn't work. IDK I think RRE has an article on it.

I am running one of the switchable JDM trans. It has the taller 1st and 5th gears. It did not have double syncro's, we put those in it. Other than that it is the same as a stocker. I do not know if they are tougher but I know a guy that ran one that had the trans mount holes stripped out. The trans bashed around in the engine bay and finally the guy pulled it thinking it was shot. He thought the gears were messed up and would not engage but it was the problem was shift cables that were binding.

Does it shift smoother than the us tranny?

The strongest dsm transmission is a late 91, early 92. They have the biggest gears and 3-4 sleeve. Most jdm transmissions you get are not from a dsm. The best jdm trans is the evo3, which has to have a different front diff gear to work in out cars. No matter what you get if you make any real power it will break eventually.
