Japanese market experts: Transmission from Japan clarification ????

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

They did not have "JDM" (japan) E/T/L's there.

So i have been told by people there, EVEN if you google it there are 0 finds.

What the heck are you talking about??? :idontknow:

As for swapping a US-Spec front diff into an Evo 3 transmission, also while using a matching US-Spec output shaft pinion gear, it works just fine. You MAY need to swap your speedo sensor depending on years, but it should match up. The US-Spec axles will fit the US-Spec front differential with no problems.

I was wondering because I was thinking about buying one from Tiger Japanese.

I called them today and talked to a guy in the parts department. Couldnt hardly talk to or understand the guy. But I got through to him that I wanted to know some typical transmission bellhousing numbers he would sell to me. Well he said he would find some and call me back today.
Needless to say he has not called me back.

When I first called I was talking to some foriegn chick, and i tried to explain to her about the rear ends had differant drive ratio's. It was like trying to, well..... it was just impossible. :banghead:.

I was told axle has to be ordered through ralliart dealer, but that is likely not correct. I spent two years trying to find one. The dismantlers who know the CV is different wont separate from tranny. I finally found a guy in UK that could sell me one. Spent 250 for it and when it arrived it was not long nose. Then he lied about sending the correct one which I never got. I dont think the factory had two different LSD. The evo 3 is most sought after rally/hill climb car on the planet. Many trans may have received cusco or kazz upgrade. While the upgraded unit will use stock length CV the clutch pack diffs suck for street car. chatter too much even with LSD fluid. The stock LSD from mitsu is viscous type with 44 clutch plates. The cool part is its 250wt oil is sealed from reg tranny fluid. Her is a picture of that impossible to find CV next to US market one.

finally found a cool idea to use evo 3 JDM diff when you dont have longer stub. you will need one good US market cup. and any old cup from any mitsu as long as shaft is same diameter and spline. I drilled both for 8x 1.25 thread. then lathed off the the end of donor shaft. its job is not to help drive axle at all. its only job is to provide the retainer clip in correct position to hold shorter stub axle in. already tested working perfectly.
I drive my blue car (evo1) for a two years with over 400tq and that axle only popped out once. when it pops out it will shear the end off. then you have to remove both axles so you can pop the piece out. found a long shaft for that car. tried same luck with white evo 1. it broke about 6 stubs before I found this solution. may not be for everyone. driveshaft shop can make the cup but they quoted me 250 or 300 something like that.

I have most worked out for my tranny but the speed senor deal. Do you have a part number twick for the evo 1 speed sensor?

The speed sensor is a bunch of different parts put together. I would think the gear would go into other W5M33 sensors just fine?
